Advocare Cleanse - My Journey
Permalink

I want to track my progress on the Advocare Cleanse because this is the first time I've ever done anything like this and I'm curious to see how it goes.

Leading up to starting the cleanse I did several things to prepare.

First, about 6 weeks ago I decided to cut out Coke.  I was only drinking one a day but I was very much in love with that one time a day!  I started drinking the Spark and I think that is what made giving up that one Coke a day much easier.  I've cheated a couple of times but I think after the Cleanse starts I don't plan to drink it anymore.

Yesterday I went to the store and loaded up on fresh fruits and veggies.  I also bought a ton of chicken breasts.  I already have tilapia and tuna on hand.  I still need to get some natural peanut butter (no sugar added) and Hellman's Canola Mayo to add to the tuna.  I also need to find and/or make a salad dressing.  They recommend Walton Farms but I need to find where I can get that.

Also the day before the start I grilled two large chicken breasts.  I then weighed them (on my husband's brand new fishing scale - he wasn't thrilled wink) so that I could get the recommended 3 oz per serving.  I ended up having 4 servings so I put them in baggies in the fridge so they are ready to add to salad or eat for lunch or dinner.

A few days ago I took my measurements and this morning I weighed myself.  I will add the before and after info later.

I have also studied a crazy long time the recommended foods.  I have saved the info to my computer so I can have it pulled up all the time to refer to!  I wrote myself out a chart of what I'm supposed to eat/drink and the supplements to take and when.  I need a foolproof method . . . I know myself, if I get frazzled I'll grab for something I'm not supposed to!

So, here goes.  Day one is underway!

ETA:  If you have any questions you want to ask privately, PM me!  As Melissa can tell you, I'm sort of crazy about this stuff and excited to talk about it!!

Fun! This will be interestin for me to read. Cannot wait to see how it goes for you. Maybe I should wait to start till your 10 days are up, lol. Honestly, I am sure it may be a bit easier for me since I somewhat eat like that. I think you will feel great after.

Day 1 Down!

I started the day with 3 catalyst supplements.  Catalyst is an amino acid supplement that I've seen described as "liposuction in a bottle."  It is supposed to lean you out, give you muscle definition.

The I drank the Fiber drink.  I'm really glad I researched this as thoroughly as I did because I know the "will thicken" in the directions would not have been taken seriously enough by me!  I watched a youtube video of someone mixing their fiber drink and I saw how rapidly it thickened soooo I mixed mine and drank it down as fast as I could.  I chose the citrus because I'm a big citrus spark fan so I figured I'd go citrus on the cleanse as well.   I'm thinking next time I might opt for the peaches and cream wink

For breakfast I had 1 hard boiled egg and an apple.

Around 10:00 I had the other 3 catalyst supplements along with a spark drink.

At lunch I had a salad with lettuce, cucumbers, orange peppers, carrots, grape tomatoes and 3 oz of grilled chicken.  I made up my own salad dressing with extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar.  I also had two OmegaPlex supplements.

The Omega Plex supplements are omega-3 fatty acid.  They are a natural anti inflammatory, natural dieretic, and natural fat flush that mobilizes stored fat.

In the afternoon I had a handful of almonds - not really b/c I was hungry - I just wanted something crunchy.

Around 4:00 I hand another Spark.

For dinner I had 4 oz of baked tilapia and a bit of lightly steamed carrots and broccoli.    I also took the other 2 OmegaPlex supplements.

Right before bed I need to take the Herbal cleanse supplements that came with the cleanse and then I'm done.

Overall it was a fine day.  I was not hungry at all.  I had energy.  I went to the bathroom alot but I think that is because I drank about 68 ozs of water!

The Catalyst and Omegaplex do not come with the cleanse - those are products that are recommended to be used along with the cleanse to get the max benefits and I decided if I was going to do this thing I was going to give it the best chance to work so my opinion could be a detailed one.

If you want to look up any of the supplements I've referenced above to get more detailed information about them you can go to:  www.advocare.com\11103021

Day 2 Down!

And since it's Halloween and my life is saturated with candy and I did not eat one single piece . . . I'd call it a success!  Even though I'm not a huge candy eater I will dig in the bag for a mini candy bar or two while we're strolling!  Not tonight (I wanted to!) - I planned ahead and shoved a handful of almonds in my pocket and munched on those!  I'd rather have had those almonds in about half a dozen almond joy bars though biggrin

Today was much like yesterday.  Fiber drink in the a.m.  (good Lord that is my least favorite part of this whole thing and I'm thanking my lucky stars you only drink it days 1-3 and then on days 8-10).

Had the same food - apple/egg breakfast, salad for lunch and tilapia with lightly steamed veggies for dinner.  Handful of almonds (twice!) and 2 sparks.  I did have a banana for a snack later afternoon.  I took the same supplements - the catalyst and the omegaplex.

I probably took in about 67 oz of water.

I'm not missing fast food at all (a little surprising).

I also went to the store today and found the Hellmans Canola Mayo, Walden Farms dressing and all natural, no sugar added peanut butter.  So I can maybe expand my food a bit.  Maybe I'll get wild tomorrow and have some tuna fish wink

Kris I got the spark samples and info. Going to look it over. I wonder how much caffeine is in spark compared to a cup of coffee? Need to find that out.

1 packet has 120 milligrams of caffeine.

I found this on caffeine:

looks like it varies from 90-150 milligrams but I guess that would really depend on how strong you made it right?  You could always make it stronger if you wanted.   I'm not a coffee drinker . . .

Day 3.

Alot like the first two days.  The Fiber Drink -  I got it down.  Not the easiest thing I've ever done and thankful I get the next 3 days off!

I'm really doing everything the same.  Salad for lunch loaded with fresh veggies.  There are lots of veggies that are "free" and I love most of them so I have tons (spinach, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce).  I do add the measured ones - grape tomatoes and carrots).  Add 3 oz of grilled chicken on top.  It really fills me up!

For dinner I had 4 oz of tuna mixed with a tsp of relish and a tsp of canola mayo.  it was good.  I also had steamed broccoli and carrots.

I was pretty hungry before bed - so I ate an appeal and a tiny bit of the natural peanut butter (which is um, not like Jiff at all!).

I drank probably a bit over 70 oz of water throughout the day.

I think the key to this has been the prep.  I have studied so many websites on the topic and read lots of comments from other people.  It's given me great ideas and tips.  It has made it so easy to make dinner for my family while not eating any of it.

I'm also surprised that I'm not craving carbs or dairy at all.  I'm not even missing it.    I LOVE dairy.  I'm a cottage cheese aholic!  And I love bread and rolls and crackers and pasta.

There was a homemade plate of chocolate chip cookies at work yesterday that were hard to resist.  I thought about freezing one for next week!  But I didn't (I'm just going to ask her to bake more next month wink)

interesting that for a cleanse you are not going #2 more. I mean what I am reading is basically how I pretty much eat (outside of the last two months - i cannot stop eating right now). So, wondering what this herbal cleanse then does? I eat pretty pure for the most part, except the coffee.

I did read somewhere that you are pretty much dairy and gluten free?  It sounds like you eat really well.

From what I'm now reading I'm thinking I just might not have gotten to the going stage!

Kris, I work with a guy who distributes advocare. He gave me a really great deal on the 10 day cleanse part so i'm doing it! It was not in my budget at all but he really helped me out. So far so good. I am finishing day 2. I don't mind the fiber drink, crazy I know ;) The last couple times I tried MF the cravings killed me, and so far I am keeping them at bay pretty good. Have you noticed at all the pills giving you nausea? I took them before bed last night and woke up feeling sickly. I was able to go back to sleep but i'm hoping it doesn't do it again tonight. Are you working out a lot?

 That is great!

Which fiber drink did you get?    That honestly has been the most challenging part for me - getting that sucker down!

I have not gotten nauseous from the pills and I'm taking several other supplements first thing in the am on an empty stomach so I'm actually surprised I'm not feeling that way.   I typically don't eat/drink anything in the am and to put all that stuff in my gut with all that water on an empty stomach in the am did make me nervous.

I'm up to the probiotic stage so in the am I'm having those (2) plus the catalyst (3)  (plus I take one other supplement not related to the cleanse) - so that is ALOT of pills into an empty stomach.

Now what is making your belly upset was the herbal cleanse pills right?  the ones at bedtime?   I read to take those on as empty a stomach as possible - not sure if you did that but if not maybe you could make sure its the minute before you go to bed.

and you can add your progress to this thread if you want - I'd love somebody to go through this with and I'm starting day 5 today so I'm not that far ahead of you wink

Kris, the peaches and cream fiber drink is fine. I had no problem chugging it down. It must be better then the citrus.

Kris I have the citrus too. AJ who I bought it from said think of it like really pulpy juice so thats the mindset I went in with and I don't mind it at all. Drinking my day 3 one as I type... it thickens SO fast lol.

It was the nightly cleanse pill, last night was fine though :) so hopefully it was a one time thing or even not related.

I tried grape spark yesterday... not very good in my opinion. Thankfully it was just a single sample AJ gave to me. I had orange this morning. They have a lot of caffeine in them lol. I have too other samples from him fruit punch and cherry. I really want to try the strawberry one and the pink lemonade. Tried either of those? I do seem to feel more awake and aware I think.

I am really doing ok, haven't felt too bad at all.

Melissa are you on day 3? I think this is great that we are all doing it, makes it seem easier :)

Spark - I regularly drink the citrus (it kinda reminds me of oj) in the am.  I also drink the strawberry mango just about every day.   Last order I bought a canister of the pink lemonade and I really like it.  I had the grape and liked it alot but I'm a grape fan so that could be why.   I had a sample of the fruit punch (so only once) and it was my least favorite but I can't say I disliked it.   Not sure I've tried the cherry or orange (but I know I have some at home).  They have 120 mg of caffeine I think.  I really feel alert and energetic after drinking them but never jittery or jumpy and I don't crash in 3-4 hours.

I'm glad you're okay with the citrus.  Maybe I just need to change my mindset - it is just so gritty and yes it thickens fast even if you chug it.  I don't know - I'm pretty certain it will remain my least favorite part!

Yesterday I did up the spark to 3 a day.  So I drink one as soon as I get up.  Another around 11 and I will do one on my drive home.  I'm just a bit of a bear in the a.m. when the rush starts and people don't move as fast as I want them to so I wanted to try to see if it made a difference in me in the am.

Melissa - the probiotic stage is when things start to move but nothing unmanageable wink

Amber - I am not doing the shakes now.  I actually really like them for breakfast so I will start them back at the end of this 10 days.  Berry is my favorite then vanilla and chocolate would be my least.  You can add fruit to them so I might try that if I get stuck with only vanilla ones!   And did you ask me about exercise?    I'm not exercising at all :bag:

No, Amber. I am just on day one.

I am not having any issues because I eat pretty much this way. It actually is helping me get back on track again after derailing with eating crap. So, this is one big reason I am doing it and to get rid of the bloat.

I have had 480z of water by 11am already and working on another.

I only have the two spark samples that Kris gave me. I am on the fence if I want to go that route or not.

Finished day one. It went well. Was not hard and I was not starving.

This morning I had a harder time with the fiber drink for some reason. I felt like I wanted to pule while drinking it,lol. Not sure what that was about.

I cannot believe how much water I drank. I think I drank more yesterday then I have in the last month.

Kris, what do you put on your salad for dressing or do you use none?

Day 5

There really isn't much difference.  It seems really easy!    My family is looking at me sideways though because I can make them dinner and not eat a bite of it and stick to my fish and steamed veggies.

There was lots of talk in the office yesterday about candy and there is about a ton of candy bars sitting by me right now . . . but  yesterday I had a banana with a bit of all natural, organic Smucker's peanut butter on it and it was perfect for the sweet tooth.  And that surprised me b/c I tried that organic pb the first day I got it and let me tell you this, it is not jiff!  There really isn't anything sweet to it!  But I think my taste buds are changing and mixing it a bit with the banana really made it a nice treat.

I was hungry on day 3 at different times during the day . . . but days 4, 5 and now the start of 6 I'm not really hungry.

I think the jump up to 3 spark per day was good for me through the cleanse.  I will go back down to 2 when  I start the meal shakes for breakfast next week.

My water intake has been insane - I'm pretty sure I've had more water in the last 4 weeks than I've had in the last 2 years combined (and I'm really not kidding!).   I'm getting I would guess between 70-85 oz per day.
