We have experienced the same kind of thing as well. When my grandmother was dying, my mom (a teacher) had taken off for a while to take care of her at our house. As time progressed, my grandmother's condition wasn't changing dramatically, and my mom needed to return to work. The very day she did, my grandmother passed. I had just left her side to go take a shower and get ready for school (I had come home and gone to the community college for that semester), and the hospice nurse came running up and told me to get downstairs, and I was the last person to say goodbye.

My heart is breaking for all of you, and I pray you all find peace.

 corey....i am so sorry.  I hope you can find strength in eachother and in your memories of your mother.  she is always with you
