I'm really thinking about give it a try, and I'd like to get Dom to join me, but I'm not sure if he'll go for it. My brother has lost 60 lbs in about 4 months and has been able to get off his high blood pressure medication and his high cholesterol is back in check. Definitely motivating right there!
I would like to lose between 15-20 lbs to be back at a weight I'm happy with. Dom could stand to lose around 35 lbs. So, my questions...
How difficult is it, really? My brother said it was pretty tough for him, but he stuck with it. I'm afraid we'll end up crabby and want to kill each other, lol.
Is it something Dom can do while traveling? I know he will not want to have to pack food, and he has quite a few trips coming up for the rest of the year.
Once you hit your goal weight, is it difficult to get back to eating "normal" food again? What about maintaining the weight loss?
Anything else to consider? I'm still nursing, and I think I saw there's a plan for nursing moms.
the hardest thing about mf is there is no "taking a break." you can't go off plan for a day without having to get back on, which takes 2-3 days and is a pita.
traveling would be hard - he'd be packing meals and snacks for everyday. there is no getting around that.
i did MF from about late august until late september last year and lost about 8-10 pounds. but when i got off i didn't do the "transition" plan and gained it all back.
that being said, my friend deborah who is 65 lost about 15 pounds on it and has kept it off (but she is a chronic dieter).
i'm not sure i would do it again. honestly, i'd prefer myfitnesspal i think.
No cheat days. The first three days are HARD!!!!! But you do get results. The diet has worked for me but you do need to make agood transition.
If you go to the board it has a lot of information on everything. I tend to stay with bars, shakes and pudding so i dont eat all the food they have. I take my food everywhere.
At first they don't taste very good. Not at all. And the apperance in some of them is not pretty, but once you are past those first days, your taste change. As with ANY diet the important part is maintaining so if you go back to the old habits you will get the pounds back.
Even if i gain in the summer(because i was on vacation and wanted to eat like a pig, i do believe the program works. But still you do need to have a strong will to overcome those first days. Now i cook for the boys and the i'm fine with that.

It's working, and no one has really had any major complaints. Everyone has lost upwards of 10-15 pounds so far, and they say that they're not hungry. Jo, I did medifast last year and it worked really well for me. I agree the first few days are tough and I also struggled with cravings for awhile but the results spoke for themselves and really help with staying with it. I did not do the transition phase and gained my weight back, I had good intentions and no follow through, no fault of the plan, all mine. I have been trying to get back on the mf train for awhile and it's been unsuccessful for me, my willpower doesn't match up with my desire. I lost over 25 pounds last year and I was so proud of myself. I think you would be ok if you made it through the first week or two, the results on the scale don't lie and do wonders for motivation. Good luck! Oh and I don't think it would be good for Dom while traveling, lots of packets and weighing food.

Thank you, Amber. We're realizing it's not going to be something Dom will be able to do with his travels. Sorry to hear about the weight coming back, it sounds to me like the transition plan is really important. I'll remember that. I hope you find your way back on the mf train if that's what you want.
