I'm so embarrassed to admit this but for the first tooth Gavin got $5. YES - $5. It's all we had - we never ever have cash. I guess I could have dug through their banks but I just told him that for the first tooth you get $5 but after that $1. So, for any other teeth he will get $1.

My nephew got a silver dollar for each tooth, which I really like.

Unfortunately we never have anything handy so Henry has just gotten whatever we could find.

One time it was a paperback book he'd been wanting.

One time I put $1 in the mailbox--that's where out tooth fairy visits--but Glen added some change to it.

Always different.

We gave $5 for first tooth and $1 or $2 coin depending on what we have for the next ones.

soul sista! Thanks for posting. I don't feel so crazy now. I told Gavin for the first tooth you get however old you are. Now Owen will probably wait until he is 10 to lose his first tooth.

We did some wacky math and decided to go with $2 the first tooth, that way it wouldn't go to his head that he would get $5 per tooth and start knocking himself silly to lose more. :)

Then we'll do $1 per tooth after that.

Of course it would help if he hadn't of lost the tooth..he has no idea where he put it when he showed it to the neighbor kids..*sigh*

this was just the topic on a radio show here the other day. people were saying they give $50-100 for tooth #1 and the host was saying how ridiculous that was. a girl i know gave $25 for her daughter's first and i think $5 for any tooth after.

as a kid i got between .25 and $1. i think $1 a tooth is perfect.

I love my son but not for $50 for a tooth...Or even a $100 or even $25!

He got $2. He came in some time between the crack of dawn and the @ss crack of dawn shouting with glee that the Tooth Fairy, the same lady whose existence he vehemently denied, brought him $2 and he couldn't wait to lose more.

I will say he looks adorable with that gap. :)

The tooth fairy hasn't visited out house yet but I think she'll leave $1.... Lucas is DYING for her to come and is always saying his teeth are loose... but they so aren't. I think he was pretty late getting teeth so I guess that means late losing them?

This but it wasn't because I had no cash, just because that's what I decided

Okay, I feel better now. I totally could have gone and gotten smaller bills for the $5 but I kind of wanted the first tooth to be special. :D

Kiera has no concept of money yet. I mean, she knows things are expensive, and that we dont buy her everything she wants because we have to make choices, but, what a dollar buys vs. $100? nope. $100 would be totally lost on her. lol.

She has lost one tooth. We wanted to give her a sacajawea dollar for each tooth, but she lost it unexpectedly, so I actually took about 2$ in coins out of her own piggy bank to give her instead. It's all we had! Hoping to do the sacajaweas for the next ones...

Us either, the dentist says probably not for another 7-8 months, Dominic always says "my toof is loose, feel it!" He will get probably get $5, when did Lucas get his teeth? Dominic was 8 months.

Christopher has not lost any teeth either and the dentist at his last check up said that we are nowhere close.  Christopher did not get his first tooth until 9 months.

We will most likely do $5 for the first tooth and $1 afterwards.
