she has a daushund (sp?) for about 6 years now. her dog is like a baby to her. well...it hurt its back from jumping off her bed. (this breed is prone to injury because of their long back).  anyway, the dog has a slipped disc and is in a lot of pain. she took her to the vet and they gave her medicine but the dog is not drinking on her own (my sister is using a syringe to give her pedialyte).  it is possible the dog will become paralyzed and my sister cannot afford the surgery so she would possibly get put down.   I feel SO bad for my sister...she loves her dog so much.

if anyone is so inclined, please include my sister in your prayers.  thanks in advance!!

lizzy, that is so sad.

the EXACT SAME THING happened to my dad's dog - he and his wife have a dauchsund too who hurt his back jumping off the couch.

they spent $5,000 to have it fixed (they can definitely afford it thanks to his wife's lucrative job).

those poor doggies.

i'll be thinking of her. :(

yeah....they become like members of our family.  I had a cat for 13 years (since I was 17) and when he died, I was devastated.  btw, how is your dog? You said he was losing weight?

Oh, that is really sad my dog in college broke his leg very badly. I paid $1500 to fix it and it didn't heal properly. I ended up having to put him down because I had no money. I had already borrowed the $1500 from my friend and I knew I couldn't afford more than that. It was awful. I am praying for your sister's poor doggie to get better.

just to update....I think she is getting a little better. My sister said she is now drinking on her own. (she was having to give her water with a syringe before). S step in the right direction...I hope!!

I'm glad she is doing better. I hope she continues to progress. Your sister must be so sad watching her feel so awful.

I know how she feels, our puppy, a Min Pin, broke her leg when she was 3 months old (Dominic dropped her) and she had to have surgery and it was over $1500, the only way we were able to pay for it was we were able to get these credit cards for the vet, CareCredit and that is how we paid for it, otherwise we would have had to put her down too because I was laid off and we don't any kind of savings and nobody was going to lend us $1500, even though we only had her for a little over a month it would have been so sad, praying for your sister and glad the dog is doing better!
