anyone around? medical advice - head bump

cate is a climber.

she was on a chair and fell off.  she fell on her back, but bumped her head real hard on the parquet floor.  (it is 60 year old floor that is "floating" os a wood frame, so there is a bit of bounce)

a few min later tears stopped and she has a big blue egg bump... which i am not freaked about, i am more worried about concussion and the inside of her head.... kwim

she is now happy and acts like nothing happened.

do you all think she is ok? would you take her in to be seen, or am i overreacting?

i would probably watch her. check her pupils. are they dilated?

if she gets fussy or doesn't seem to be acting normal, i personally wouldn't take her.

Koda did something similiar when he was a baby.  When I brought him in, they said if he immidiately started crying, and never lost conciousness- that he was ok.  They said to watch for any vomiting, or lethargy- but overall they said babies are tough cookies.

I took Mia in once. Watch if they get sleepy, vomit, etc. They say they worry more when the bump does not come out and they hit the head hard.

Thanks all! You would think with my 4th kid I would know lol!! She is happily playing here in bath. Pupils are fine. I will check for the signs you guys mentioned, but won't take her in unless she gets weird. You all are the best!

Ditto all of this.  If there is a bump, she is probably okay.  And from my experience, you would probably know if there was something really wrong.

Jake had a concussion once.  It was SCARY!!  He got hit in the head by a pool ladder (don't even ask) and needed 7 staples in his head, but he seemed okay.  Of course it was at night so he went to bed not long after.  The next day, he was really sleepy, taking catnaps - almost like he was in and out of consciousness,  and acting really off.  Immediately called the ped and was told to go to the emergency room for a CAT scan.  Thankfully there was no fracture, but he was diagnosed with a concussion.  I was told to watch him very carefully for 48 hours to make sure none of the signs were getting worse.  Some of the scariest days of my life.

just now seeing this

bump on the outside is a good thing, no vomiting is a good thing, and her acting and playing normally is a good thing

like the others said, watch her pupils, but it sounds like she's fine

kenley dove head first out of her crib, onto the wood floors when she was around 1

i panicked and took her in immediately, but they didn't even scan her head because she had no symptoms at all

kids are tough!

Poor baby!  I agree with the others, and I'm glad she seems to be doing better!

When Peepers fell on the concrete step in the garage, right on the bridge of her nose, I had no idea what to do.  She was playing and happy within a few minutes and acted fine the rest of the day, so I didn't bring her in and she was fine.  But I was so worried!  (Disclaimer: As soon as it happened, I called John frantically and he did some quick Googling, LOL, and reassured me that she was probably fine, LMAO.)

I am late to this, but wanted to say I am glad she is ok!!!!

It is so scary when they do those things-I remember calling the nurses line at the hospital one of the times Kate fell and really wacked herself. It just sucks. :( (after the first time, I was like an old pro, lmao-but it was still really scary!!)

poor girl-I hope she doesn't have too much of a headache!

I'm glad she is fine, Megan.  When Mason was around two, he ran into the bathroom full speed, turned on the rug, and his head went straight onto the side of the toilet.  That was the most scared I have ever been!  He had a huge bump too.  Luckily, he was fine.  Why do they insist on scaring their mommies so much?!
