If you are paying $3500 supplies should be included. That's nuts.

WOW! That is a lot of glue!

We had to supply very minimal supplies for K. I think the original list was a backpack, 4 boxes of Crayola 24 pack crayons, 2 packs of 10 #2 pencils, and a bottle of elmer's glue (they didn't use glue sticks.) There may have been scissors on the list. . At the open house they had a wish list board with hands and each hand had something from the teacher's wish list so if you wanted to "lend a hand" you could. The hands had stuff like "paper towels, baby wipes, tissues. Oh and at Christmas they asked for more crayons.

Here K is all day and open to all students.

that's about what ours was, plus we had to supply kleenex, paper towels and the nap mat

ridiculous!

ETA: I had to buy a little all summer long so I wouldn't go broke buying all that at the same time, lol

What happens to all the scissors do you think? I mean I can understand that they need new pencils and crayons cause they get used up but scissors should still be good right? When I looked at Joe's list for 1st grade I had thought maybe they just passed them up from K, cause he doesn't have any on his list. But when I look at the regular 1st grade supply list they have scissors on there.

SG got to bring her scissors home at the end of the school year

that is some list. sheesh.  we had a killer list like that too (up to the "girls" portion - we didnt have to supply stuff like paper and playdoh).

it ended up costing me well over $30 though - more like $50 i'd say.

That's crazy! The quantities on ours isn't as high, and we get the option of just providing $25 per student, which is what the teachers prefer so they can get the same thing of each.

We have to provide classroom snacks once per month and pay an additional fee (usually $5) for field trips. The teachers also ask for donations of items throughout the year.

I don't even think I've used 36 glue sticks in my life, combined. That's ridiculous.

This is the school list that was up for last year, so I imagine it'll be similar. We have this list, and then her school fees are $65ish for 1st grade. (Half day kinder was $27 for the year).

3 large gluesticks OR 6 small gluesticks
1 LARGE plastic school box that snaps shut (7 x 11 x 2)
1 24 count Crayola crayons
12 #2 pencils-- sharpened
1 12 pack Crayola colored pencils 7" (erasable prefered)
2 Large erasers
Fiskars scissors
1 box of 4 dry erase markers (red, green, black, blue) with eraser or old sock
1 1" 3 ring binder with plastic cover
2 boxes tissues--200 count each
1 roll paper towels
2 Pocket folders: 1 red, 1 blue
NO 3 ring prongs, please
boys Lysol/Clorox Disinfecting/Sanitizing Wipes
girls 1 box sandwich ziploc bags
NO BOOKBAGS WITH WHEELS

Wow, I am shocked how much people have to buy. None of the school around here have lists like that. Not even public.

Do they not supply anything in schools anymore?

Our list is similar. It does seem crazy with each kid bringing in 36 glue sticks. I can say that they do dry up quickly and kids always misplace the caps. Madi came home with a box of supplies at the end of school. It had scissors, crayons, glue, markers...etc.
