I went back to the doctor a few weeks ago and he sent me for blood work to see if I am insulin resistant because of my PCOS. I go back on June 9th to get the results and see if he will put me on metformin. He doubled my clomid dosage and changed the days I take it so we'll see what will happen.
I think of you often. Hope you get your positive soon. I found out recently I was insulin resistant too (but I choose not to take the drug). If you do take it have them watch your B-12 levels closely. Metformin interferes with B-12 absorption which can be dangerous if it gets low.
Good luck and please continue to keep us posted! Hugs to you.
Thinking of you and hope they can give you some answers.
You can control your insulin resistance through diet too, so it is not a must to take if you do not want to take it.
I am insulin resistant also, but have none of the other markers except high fasting #. My AC1 is always good. I am a big advocate of diet change before drugs. The drugs are not great for you long term, and if you in fact are insulin resistant, you may need them down the road. I know people take metformin for weight loss too.
Thanks Ladies, In the midst of everything I am working on getting in better shape as well. I know that weight loss can help with my PCOS and increase fertility.
Crystal, I did the OPK the 2nd round and got positive result but it was about a week AFTER Dr told us to try. So we did that week as well. The box said clomid can interfere with results and so can PCOS so who knows. I didn't do OPK with the 3rd round because DH and I were REALLY sick during the time we were supposed to be trying so I think we only were able to do the deed once or twice.
Before I took 50mg Clomid on days 5-9. This time I am supposed to take 100mg on days 2-7. I am still waiting for my period to start. I took Provera for a week two weeks ago. The last few times I took it I started 6 days after stopping the provera. This time it's been 7 days and so far nothing. So now I am waiting for it to show up to start the next round of clomid. I hope it hurries up! I planned a girls trip for the week after I am SUPPOSED to ovulate with my single childfree BFF. I'd hate to cancel! Not sure how she would take "sorry I have to stay home and do the deed."
