Do you want one you can carry around with you, or one that will stay attached to your computer for backups and such? How many GB are you looking for, and what will you be using it for? Does it need to be fast for streaming video, ect?

uh...no idea.
It would primarily just be for backups although I thought I could use it to clear off my work computer too.
GB--no clue. big enough for my music and photos? I have a 2 gb mac book.
not planning to stream video or anything like that. Really just to back up my photos and any other files I think I might need. I usually burn them on a disk but I've been really bad about it lately and it's a pita.
I have one of these and love it http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&sugexp=ldymls&pq=external+hard+drive+mac&xhr=t&q=external+hard+drive+mac+passport&cp=31&client=firefox-a&hs=z0L&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=2692459802385319310&sa=X&ei=OFXATZ-AJISosQPWrsSTCA&sqi=2&ved=0CDgQ8wIwAw#
It is small so you can fit it in your purse and take it wherever you want. It also doesn't require a power cord (gets its power from the USB) which makes it more convenient for travel. If you don't plan to carry it around often, you might want to look at different options because they might be cheaper. Gotta go get Mason...
I dont have a mac, but I have a similar one as Crystal. Mine is a Seagate, I paid about $70 for it at Staples. I say get as big of one as you can for between $50-70. Mine was plenty big enough and then some to back up all my emails and documents to take with me when I left my old job. I mean, if one wanted to do that... Along with pictures, etc. I carry it everywhere with me.
