Sunday during sunday school, one of the new OB's, Dr. W, asked for prayers for one of their patients. She couldn't give any detail, other than she was "gravely ill"
I found out yesterday what happened.
Apparently last Thursday, Dr. R. did a c/section and tubal on a 31 year old woman. Later in the day, they realized something was terribly wrong, and called Dr. W (who was on call). The decision was made to take her back to the OR, and before they did, she coded.
Dr. W got her back, took her to the OR, and opened her back up. She had bled over 1000cc of blood back into her belly. She ended up coding 2 more times on the table.
She's now on the vent, and last report was there was little to no brain activity. As you can imagine, the family is having a hard time with that reality, so they haven't made any decision to take her off life support yet.
Please keep this family in your prayers. Some tough days are ahead, and to top it all off, the baby is now in NICU with low sats.
That's beyond horribly, and ranks up there with my very worst fears in life. Saying many prayers for comfort for her, and for her family. How absolutely terrifying.
That is horrible. Many prayers going to their family. I am praying for some miracles for that poor family.
Mel - didn't something similar happen to you? Other than the really extreme parts of the story obviously. Is the bleeding from the tubal or the c-section?

They think it's fromthe tubal, that one of the tubes weren't tied off good, or at all. Not 100% sure, and you know how the rumor mill is

It did; that's about the amount of blood I lost and when they went back in, they found that one of the tubes wasn't tied off properly and there was also a nick in the muscle behind where that stuff is. There were only about 15 minutes though, in my case, between when they wheeled me out the first time and when they went back in; TG they didn't wait. That poor woman!

OMG Mel, I didn't know it was that much blood. Thank God they got you back there so quickly.

NBD (now). I just wish this woman had had such prompt care. There's always room for a miracle, right, Ifer?
