Hey Mom Squawkers! I started a total body cleanse this sunday it's my first one. Was wondering have any of you tried a cleanse? If so, what were the results? Were you pleased with the process and would you recommend it again? Oh also, was it what you expected and what was the brand?

I have done dietary cleanses before. I have also done parasite cleanses. Most cleanses are supposed to also cleanse the colon, so you shouldn't be having issues! Does your cleanse include a colon cleanse?

Maybe adding a few prunes or prune juice would get things moving.

It's supposed to but she said this is a subtle cleanse. I seem to be getting back to regularity, but was hoping for more of a cleanse with the colon. How often do you do a cleanse?

I try to do a cleanse once per year (I've only done it twice so far), which involves eating only raw foods, and I follow it with a parasite cleanse. I've been wanting to try a liver cleanse. There is one that is very cheap you can do with normal pantry items, but it makes you feel sick for the few days you are doing it and I've never been able to just accept a couple of days of feeling crappy. There seem to be a lot of good reviews for it though. Some day...

I heard the parasite cleanse is worth doing though! I feel like I have missed out on this, I have noticed tha tmy cellulite is kind of becoming less noticeable... def still there but I'll take a little less... LOL..

A cleanse will pull toxins from your body and they have to get out somewhere! I think you may just be backing up from everything that is being eliminated (or not, haha). You might have to increase your water intake to way over the normal recommended limits. I'm not sure how much, but you can drink a LOT of water before you get too much. You might want something with electrolytes though if you are really flushing the water through.

I don't know total body cleanse, but I water fast and if you don't eat anything, your digestion slows dramatically. When I fast I have to give myself a slightly warm water flush (think enema) every few days to help eliminate toxins. I know when to do it because I get a headache that us fasters call the " shit headache" meaning time to flush. Your body also rids toxins via the sweat glands and the tongue- brush teeth and shower often!

My friend is doing a raw foods cleanse this week. Every day she has posted on facebook a very detailed note about what she has been eating and such. I can tag you in it if you want to read it.

I have had 2 colonoscopies as well and you are right Tracey. I asked my doctor about this a few years ago he told me that in the US we don't have a parasite problem. Other countries might but we don't here. He said there is a lot of hype about it in chain stores for these cleanses but he doesn't recommend we buy them. To each their own I guess. I do toxin cleanses all the time but would not do parasite ones. MY SIL is big into doing the yeast cleanse but it never seems to help her so I can't say it helps her.

I haven't looked at the images for a parasite cleanse, but I agree that I have not seen anything out of the ordinary during colonoscopy preps (I mean our of the ordinary for *me*, not for the average person), and that thing gets squeaky clean after that! IDK if the parasites are supposed to be in the actual digestive tract, but I have not seen any evidence of that myself.

I have often been curious about cleanses though. But I am far too afraid to do it. Either I am flaring and can't handle that kind of thing or am doing well and afraid to rock the boat. I would kick myself beyond belief if I did a cleanse and it messed up my remission!!! (not that I could do it now pregnant anyway)

Tracey- it's more than just a quick colonoscopy. To feel good, you need to change your diet- no caffeine, salt, sugars, meats, processed foods- and the longer without the better. When I fast, even though it is for 10-14 days, the entire process takes a month, and my diet is changed after to limit the above mentioned things fir as long as possible after. I do know that your body heals itself of many health issues while fasting- inflammatory problems, skin probs like eczema, allergies, rheumatism, to name a few. Plus, when your digestive tract is cleaned, it absorbs vitamins better and more quickly- another reason why it's important to eat healthy, non salty, non processed foods after.

My main concern is I am becoming constipated but drinking more than half of my weight in ounces as directed on the label. Any and all feedback greatly appreciated!
