I've been using an OPK this month even though it says that it doesn't give accurate results while on Clomid and that they don't work for some women with PCOS.
Today is day 23 and I got the first positive test. Is is possible to start ovulating this late?
I don't ever have any "regular cycles" I am on provera to make me have a period so I can't say how long my cycles really are. My doctor told us to have secks on day 12, 14, 16, 18, 20. (We didn't have secks all these days this time because of stuff that came up) But if I am really starting to ovulate today that week of secks wouldn't have made much difference!!!
I am having side effects this week from Clomid and now thinking back had some last month that I wrote off thinking that they were reactions to getting glasses for the first time and thinking they were signs of implantation and pregnancy. I didn't realize that the clomid side effects can come on days after you stop taking it.
Wen night I started having the worst headaches. Thursday I was so bloated that I couldn't even zip up my jeans that are usually very loose. Then Friday I just felt like crap. I had some minor abdominal pain and it just felt like my ovaries were the size of softballs. I was only comfortable laying down.
Last month I had horrible headaches and was so sick to my stomach but I thought it was because I had just gotten new glasses a few days before. I was also thinking "oh I'm pregnant!"
I am on the losest dose possible for Clomid. I am supposed to go back after 3 rounds and if I'm not pregnant get a higher dose. I don't think I could handle a higher dose.
Has anyone else here used Clomid? Did you have any similar side effects?
I had super bloating (like- my lower belly is just now getting back to normal 2 months later), I felt like I had an entire easter basket of eggs in my ovaries prior to O, I had HUgE cramps at O. During my actual time taking Clomid, not too bad on the side effects. Right around O, and straight through my period? What an emotional rollar coaster for me, and not just from TTC. My hormones were out of whack.
I've heard of Clomid pushing back O. If you are getting your first + opk, and symptoms, I'd say signs look great. It isn't how long it takes to O, if your body can have an 11 day+ luteal phase before your cycle starts again, you are so still in this month.
I was on Clomid and it did the same to me. I gained weight on it. Its hard to remember back but I believe my doctors required me to have a vaginal u/s each month to make sure I was o'ing and producing eggs on it. I was also using ovidrel too though so not sure if that is why the ultrasound.
Ultimately clomid did not work for me. I just gave me crazy symptoms and I never really produced eggs just massive cysts on my ovaries that made me have to cancel a bunch of TTC cycles.
I don't have experience with Clomid or PCOS, Kari, but I dont think CD 23 is too late to be ovulating. I am praying for you, and I hope things work out! But I am sorry about all of the side effects. :(
