I am new to MomSquawk looking forward to this new group of wonderful people. I recently became a WAHM and am the happiest I have been in all my life. Being able to watch my kids smile all through the day is more rewarding than any paycheck I would have ever received working out of the house. Having this opportunity on my lap I feel like the most blessed mom around. So I just wanted to say HI to all of you and hope in some way over the next few months maybe even the years to come I can help others and you all may be able to help me. I always like to take the situation and see what is to be made of it for the better of course. A dear friend once said I exude positivity which I have to say was the most wonderful thing a mom/friend could hear. Especially a mom who just left her really great paying job and not knowing what the real world was going to offer her :)
With all that being said, hope we can bring answers to one another, support, and friendships.
Thank you!! New Friends, Keri, Tiffany, Jennifer, and Jen, and one more in there I didn't catch your name. All of your families are beautiful!! A few questions asked I live in Avis, PA a super small safe town not too far from Williamsport, PA where the little league world series is held and my WAHM work is as a Marketing Executive with Internet CEO Moms. I am also thinking of other options to bring more income in. I just can't bare the thought of going back into the working world. So joining a social group like this I think can only improve my motivation to continue to be home. I am so greatful you all have reached out to welcome and thank you!
A few questions for all of you.
What are your situations that allow you to stay home? What are some of your challenges? And most importantly are you houses ever clean? I know I can never have a clean home I only have 3 yo Caitlin home with me all day.
I sometimes wonder is it that I am that lazy... I just love researching web and working on my blog. If you would like to check that out just to learn more about me and what drives me it's www.nicoleherritt.com
One of my favorite things is to write, so I am hoping to get noticed with it. Oh well I am a babbler too. Have a great day all!!!
Hi Nicole! I'm Allison mom to Travis(13), Lucas(5) and Julia(7weeks). I work part time outside the home and bring the baby with me for now and I am getting ready to move so right now my house is trashed and will stay that way. LOL I was a SAHM for years and my house wasn't clean then either. Oh and I had a small sewing/hairbow/craft thing I was doing for awhile that I plan to get started again after I move. (I am a rambler too LOL)
I have tried and failed at blogging though I really feel like I would be good at it. Maybe I can try again
Nicole, I know where Williamsport, PA is and I've been there a handfull of times. Two of my really good friends actually live there.
My house is usually clean during the day, but that is only because my husband is at work and my son is in school so they haven't had a chance to make a mess yet. I am a SAHM but I do babysit to bring in extra money. I watch my 23 month old nephew Caden for 30 hours a week and then in between I babysit for my other SAHM friends so they can go to the Doctor or a hair appointment or an older child's school function.
Oh my what a welcoming!! Allison about blogging I read a book that really motivated me ~ Crush It by Gary V I forget how to spell the last name he was the creator of wine library. Very energetic book. You should read it especially if you have you craft business it's a great how to on getting yoursellf out there... I recommend it to everyone I come in contact with. Most of my posts actually refer to it (on my blog). Glad to hear so many of you and I have a lot in common. I help a friend that works more than I do I watch her daughter (my niece) and every so often when she is off she offers to watch my daughter, it's nice to have the support all around. I offered to watch some kids, but was going to charge just $5/ day for 2 kids, wouldn't get far with that income. LOL so I had to ask for more and of curse was told I may not be needed... Oh well for now we'll just see what happens.
Thank you to all for your welcome!! I definitly found a place to share and be myself!!
Welcome, Nicole! I'm Laura, mom to Anna (5) and Kate (4) with #3 on the way. I am a SAHM-and how we have managed that is that we bought a townhouse as our first house, knowing I would not always have an income. We are still here!!! My husband is an engineer, and we are looking to move onto a larger home soonish, but we made a definite choice to live where we do to allow me to stay home.
And my house is never as clean as I want it...

I'm Victoria. I have 2 kids. Andrew 5 years and Alexandra 7 months. I am a SAHM. That means that things are always really tight money wise; but, I get to stay home with my kids. My house is always a mess. I try and do something to get it cleaner everyday. But, then another part of the house just gets worse. It never ends. I live in Clovis, Ca on 5 acres.
Wow 5 acres in CA, I lived there in 2001 for about 6 months in sonoma, ca. It was beautiful and an amoazing experience but I was too far away from my family.
Thank you for the welcome can't wait to chat over the months. :)
Welcome, Nicole! I'm Alaina, SAHM mom to Rebecca (13), Crystal (12), Kyle (9), Brenna (7), and Brittany (5).
To answer your questions: What are your situations that allow you to stay home? My husband earns enough that, if we're careful, I can stay home. What are some of your challenges? I homeschool and run a VERY small business (I do it in my spare time) And most importantly are you houses ever clean? Hahahahaha You'd think that having older children would make it better sine they help better than the younger ones and don'y make as much mess. Not in the slightest. The best I get is mostly picked up, laundry done and a few things cleaned.
