sleep question?

hi-
C is 3.5 now and decided (totally on her own) she's ready for no diapers for night time - she's doing great - has had no accidents at all - it's been like a month.
she wakes up at 10pm every night to pee, which is fine.

but for the rest of the night after that, she is SO fussy.  she usually comes into my bed by about midnight, and she kicks, screams in her sleep, talks in her sleep, flips over and over, whines, cries, grinds her teeth, etc. it goes on ALL night. i'm getting NO sleep.  any thoughts?
any other kids go through this?
i know she's a restless sleeper - but she's never done the whining and crying in her sleep.   i feel like there's nothing i can do, but i'm just wondering how long of a stage this is?

if i leave her upstairs (or bring her back up there) she just goes into a full out tantrum, so i'm fine with her in my bed - i just need the fussing to stop.

yes, i should have mentioned that - it started with the underwear at night.
bc she wakes up at 10, and then is restless the rest of the night.
i mean it's not like she was ever a totally sound sleeper, but this is above and beyond.
when she wakes at 10, she's a WRECK - just SOBBING (in her sleep) and i bring her to the toilet, she pees, and goes back to bed OK. but then she just keeps whimpering all night.
it sucks.
and she wont go back into a diaper (the no-diaper thing was totally her call - in fact she chose to try it with a sitter one night and hasnt turned back).
and she will not pee in a diaper even if she's in one at night - she stil wakes up to pee and then the rest of the night is as described.

so she always would wake and was restless at night, but she did not wake and start crying before?

is she alert when she is sobbing or is it more disoriented kind of thing like she wakes scared and is not aware?

well she was always restless, in that she would toss and turn, grind her teeth, etc - she doesnt sleep like a rock by any stretch.
but she would never cry in her sleep.
and i'm not sure if she was always a kicker like this, bc she only recently has been getting into bed with me.

when she wakes to pee, she's sobbing in a disoriented way. she clutches me and i have to carry her to the bathroom, and do the whole process for her (get her on the toilet, pull her pants up and down, wipe her, etc). she's really out - gets confused getting back to her room, etc.i have to steer her.
she goes back to bed without crying at that point, but then usually an hour later it starts again. she calls for me to sleep in her room with her (which i'm not doing - but i did tell her she can come down if she needs to) so that's what she does - i feel like she's having nightmares all the time bc she's yelling out like "STOP!!" and "NOOOO!!!"
totally sucks.
R didnt really have a nightmare stage - which is funny, bc i have R pegged as my more anxious of the two.  i think i might be wrong on that one.

It sounds like fears to me. Mia actually is a restless sleeper too. She screams in her a sleep a lot, but we have not reached a regular stage yet where she wakes to where we have to get her. Sometimes I have to go in there and usually she goes back to sleep with me calming her. She will cry in her sleep and scream No or other things.

I have no good answer. We have never slept with our kids, so I have no idea what will happen down the road.

I do not think there is a ton you can do, but maybe during the day see if there are some fears you can find out, and try to see if that helps?

yeah, R was in our bed for like 2 yrs (from 3 until recently) and it was no big dael - then C started realizing, waaaaait, R is down there, i'm going too -- well the two of them in there was too much, so we got R out (she was fine with it and never looked back) - then C was out for a while, but now is back.
i dont mind that part. but i dont want to be kicked all night.
it probably is fear-based.  she has a lot of toilet issues (still a fecal withholder too).
ug.
isnt it amazing that we're expected to do hardest job ever, really well, on NO sleep?
