hey girls.

i had to share a tip i recently learned that has been unbelievable.

i made these potatoes au gratin by nigella for xmas dinner and the pan came out of the oven DISGUSTING.  i had no idea how i was going to get it clean.  then i realized she gave a tip right in the recipe for cleaning the pan - drop a dishwasher tab into the pan filled with hot water and let it soak overnight.

o.m.g.  this has been lifechanging. LMAO!  i made a chicken, rice and cream soup casserole the other night and it was completely baked on and gross.  tried the trick and i swear it was practically clean enough to go back in the cabinet in the morning. (i did, however, put it in the dishwasher first. LOL!)

thought it might helop someone.  :)

This is awesome. I'm totally going to use this on the crockpot. I love random ideas like these. I just saw a tip to freeze ketchup packets and I was like WTF??? But then it said for small burns and injuries like that and I realized it was a genius idea. Burns hurt so bad and that would work so much better than a big ice pack.

LOL!

here's the link:  http://www.campbellskitchen.com/recipedetail.aspx?recipeId=27173&fbid=dHnkqGscyho&page=4

i made the following changes...

used 1 can cream of mushroom and 1 can cream of chicken (based on the reviews).  i also used chicken stock instead of water.  i seared the chicken on the outside before putting it on the mixture.

also, the rice was NO WHERE NEAR done in 50 minutes. i'd either use instant rice next time or plan for 1 hour 20 or 1 hour 30 minutes in the oven (probably instant rice).  but we liked it! :)
