Need help oranizing my house!!!

Can you give me tips/ideas on how you organize your little girl's bedroom???

We're not even to the full on Barbie stage where there would be tons of those tiny shoes, etc. but we need some help.

We have tons of silly bands, play bracelets, necklaces and rings.   A lot of play food stuff, doll house with furniture, people.   All her naked baby dolls.  barbies.  Snap dolls - the doll with tons o crap to snap on her.

Currently I have a 3 wheeled cart which houses 2 drawers of play food and 1 drawer of the gigantic blocks.

It's an organizational mess in her room!

Also, her room is the biggest room in the house - I want to turn it into her room/the playroom.  It used to be my husband's office but when Kate was born we turned it into her room (it is right off of our room  - the only way to get to it is via our bedroom).    My husband still has his guitars and some exercise maching in there that I'm gently prodding him to remove!!

Last Xmas we put a wii and tv in there - there is no service to the tv - only wii.  This morning we hooked a dvd player up so they can now play wii and watch their movies back there.  I'm just really trying to regain my house as mine and not an exploded toyland - it is stressing me out!!!

PLEASE share some of your organizational tips with me.  We just aren't using our space to its potential.

TIA

I know some of us use these 9 cube organizers, which are helpful.

I have found that if you really want the kids to put things away bins are best. We also have quite a bit of shelving and use those bins that fit in the cubes, clothes baskets (some come in neat colors) little storage ottomans and an organizer that has open bins (which does not hide anything).

I have bookcases that I use and a wall of built in shelves in Elizabeth's room, which is probably why I organized like that. Oh, and I decided to just let go with some things. In one of those canvas bins you will find Polly Pockets, Little Pet Shop, and other assorted similar little toys with all their accessories. She mixes them up anyway. I just sort into general categories for most things or else I would be cleaning for years and never be done.

Dress up clothes are the worst for us right now. I have some ideas, but am working on a better solution with the space I have to do it.

We have one of these in both kid's rooms. It's awesome. I do not have a fabric bucket in each of the spaces, we have 4 in Bryson's room, and in the open spaces he has stuffed animals and miscellaneus stuff and in Hannah's room she has 4 of the fabric buckets and books and puzzles etc in the empty spaces. It's an awesome organizational piece.

Hannah also has two of these and they house her zoobles, pet shops, dress up jewelry, squinkies, etc.

We use bins under the beds for doll clothes, legos, doll house stuff, etc

Allie has a organizer on her dresser for bracelets, jewlery, clips, etc.

Then we have book shelves

dress ip stuff goes in a stool that is empty inside and had a lid. It is a seat when closed

Kris,

I have two bookshelves in Ivy's room - and she has bins that hold stuff, like assorted animals, etc. I got these bins with chalkboard labels - it is so fun.

I also got a a retro caboodles at a thrift store that I put all of her little polly pocket stuff in and it has a handle to carry it around. It is genius for storing that stuff (I just love it)!!

The other thing I have is her baby doll bed has two small bins and storage underneath. It is definitely a life-saver.

her kitchen set has tons of storage underneath so that is where all the play food goes.

She has an armoire that I put some stuffed animals too.

and she has a doll cradle at the foot of her bed for the baby dolls.

She also has a big toy box that holds all the bigger things.

Basically, her room is set up in "play zones" and all the pieces are together.

Her barbies are in a couple bins with wheels that I just roll under her bed.

I have to say that I TOTALLY did not think about under the bed storage - her crib has been converted into a daybed so there is lots of room under there.

I still have her changing table which I need to get rid of BUT yesterday I used lots of the baskets, totes, I already have on had and converted it nicely into a place for her to have her radio and CDs on one shelf down low where she can work it herself, all of her Melissa and Doug food, jewelry, baby clothes on another. The top has her styling doll head and all of its crap.

Her room is 15x18 - it was a room addition prior to us moving in and is really the master bedroom but it was all windows when we moved in (DH has fixed that now) but when we moved in we only had 1 kid and there was no way in hell that was going to be my bedroom and get woken up at 5:00 a.m. in the summer with all those windows.

SO, it was the office and now is Kate's room/playroom and the kids seem to LOVE the concept of having a playroom and DH and I LOVE the concept of our house not looking like Toys R Freaking Us in every nook and cranny. Now it will take some getting used to that they are not dragging all of their stuff out here but it's a start and quite possibly might save my sanity!

thanks for all of your tips!!!

Clara has so many toys with little pieces I came up with the idea of Ikea bin shelves. Then we googled images of each kind and taped printed photos so that she can easily identify what is in each box and arrange them herself.

What I love about these Ikea shelves is that the bins come in 3 different sizes so I can maximize the space depending on how much of each toy she has.

I posted this some months ago. Here is a link:

I love the bins bookcases. Truly. They are lifesavers here. Labels went a long way to helping us... We used to do picture labels with the word underneath when at the daycare I worked at and I always meant to do it with Hannah because it was so successful but I never got around to it, and I actually just bleached everything and labeled them with just words now that she can read - it helped us a lot with that step because she felt big that she was able to do it all unassisted.
