I had a job interview a couple weeks ago, which I thought went well. She said she would let me know the week of the 15th (I interviewed the 4th). Well, the 15th comes and goes, I do not hear from them. I went out of town on Tues and we returned on Friday to a phone message that was left on Wednesday (the day before thanksgiving) to call them.
Do you think they are calling to offer the job or to tell me that they did not select me? Don said that normally, you get a phone call with an offer and a letter otherwise. However, the thing that is throwing me off is that the person calling is not in a position to negotiate salary - she is the direct supervisor but not the head of the department. So, i think it is just a courtesy call to let me know that they selected someone else. but then, i think, would they do that the day before thanksgiving? ;)
Well with my job search the past year and a half I never once got a call for them to tell me I did not get the job, only to offer me the job so I would think they are calling to offer it to you. And I would think if they weren't going to give it to you they would just mail you a letter, that is what happened with me.

well...can you believe it WAS a courtesy call?? I just called her and she said "sorry that it took us so long to get back to you, we just wanted to give you a courtesy call that the position has been filled" :(

thanks all!!
That sucks. Sorry, Liz. The job search is so demoralizing sometimes.
I'm sorry :( Don't give up! I am an example that it will come along eventually. I had seriously given up on finding a job, I even went to an attorney to talk to him about filing bankruptcy because if I did not get a job when I did we were going to have to file because my unemployment was running out. Keep your head up!
