Ipods?

I'm thinkingabout asking Santa to get Henry an ipod for Christmas. He hasn't asked for one but I think he'd like one. Whenever he hears a song on the radio that he likes, he'll come to the computer and try to find it there.

So anyway we've never had an ipod at our house so I know NOTHING about them. Is an ipod Shuffle okay? Is there something fundamentally wrong with it? I was just looking at prices, and that one seems to be about $50ish dollars which is good for my budget.

Plus I want an ipod also.

I know there are new teeny-tiny ipod thingies but I'm pretty certain we'd lose something like that immediately.

Any thought? Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Robin, I've never had a shuffle, I didn't look too closely but it looked like it didn't have a display (this was a few years ago - I think they might have added one now) which didn't appeal to me. I ended up with a nano and it was very cool held lots of songs and pics (I think the newer ones have video now too, and maybe a camera?). I now have a touch - I love it and so do the kids with all its kid apps, it hardly ever leaves my side - sad I know. Also the built in speaker on the touch is very handy, I don't know if the newer shuffles or nanos have them.

Anyway, if you just want Henry to have it for the music then probably a shuffle would be perfect for him. If he is going to want video or internet access then you would want to go for something else. Do you have wireless internet in your house? If not then probably you wouldn't want to bother with a touch.

My youngest nephew has a shuffle. It's a good intro into the world of name brand Ipods. They are small, so if he loses things easily, it's no bueno... and it has no display, which for my nephew is no big deal (he only has 30ish songs on there, all that he likes regardless of his mood for the day) but for me, it'd be horrible because I'd have to do a ton of skipping around. It does just what it implies, I think, by randomly shuffling your library.

Nanos are great, too... lots more perks, and it's something I'd recommend for you if you were looking at them (but if you are using it for working out or running, the shuffle may work better because it is so tiny and just clips on to you).

I could go on about them all day. Joe has a nano that he loves and does just fine. I sold my Nano for a Touch, and I'm addicted to that thing.
