Raven lost her first tooth.

This seems kind of early to me.   I wasn't expecting this until first grade.  Anyway, she was eating an apple and it came out.  She never mentioned having a loose tooth.  It was in the front on the bottom.  She was so excited and the first thing she said was that she needed to show it to her teacher.  How any other 5 yo lost a tooth yet?  Haven't even talked about a tooth fairy yet so I don't think she is expecting anything.  Should I say something about the tooth fairy?  What is the going rate for a tooth?

i know a lot of last years kindergarteners at Ks school were starting to loose teeth.

I hear though the later you get teeth the later you loose them. IDK if thats true.

Id probably mention the toothfairy but IM super excited for K to loose a tooth. Shell probably faint though from any blood.

I think 50 cents or a dollar for a tooth is good.

I think quite a few of our MS kids have lost teeth already.  I know Lauren has quite a few friends who have lost teeth last year in preschool and this year in kindergarten.

I think the going rate is about a dollar a tooth right now although it doesn't have to be money.  It can be a little toy or treat, anything you know she would like.  I would definately mention the tooth fairy.  :)

I bet I didn't even write down when she got her first tooth. Now I'm curious and will have to look and see if I did.

I should of known someone else was going to mention it. Her aunt said something to her about it outside(I was inside) and she came running in wanting to know where her tooth was at so she could put it under the bed.LOL I'm pathetic and can't pretend the tooth fairy is real but I will put a dollar under her pillow for it.

I've heard that too.  None of Christopher's friends have lost teeth yet...  and Christopher got his first tooth when he was 11 months old so I don't expect him to lose teeth that early...  it's exciting though, Christopher is really into tooth fairy so I know he'll be excited when he loses his first tooth smile

Tim had his first tooth at 14 months, and he lost his first at 8 years old.   He was so slow to lose them, the dentist had to pull his last 3 baby teeth in July so he could finally get braces - he was 14.5 years old.

Maybe there is truth to that old wives tale...

Jake got his first tooth 3 days after turning 4 months old!

He just lost his second tooth last weekend and he is loosing them so far in the order that they came in!

His first tooth I have him $1 bill and he was thoroughly disappointed.

The second tooth I gave him a mixture of coins + a $1 bill and a hot wheel. So, he got just shy of $3 for that tooth but he was thrilled with what the tooth fairy.

Andrew has lost 2 teeth so far. He got his first at 4 months. The first tooth he got $2.00 in bills and an IceMan figure. For the second he got $2.00 one bill and one silver dollar. I've heard of people giving $20.00 to kids around here, but that seems so much.

I wish my kids were like this.  My DS fell and crack his baby tooth when he was 4 and it had to be pulled.  He was the only kid in kindergarten missing a tooth.

$20?  Right now Raven doesn't know the difference between a $1 and a $20 and I'm happy with that.

R has lost two so far, and her top two are loose (but not too loose - i doubt they'll fall out for a while).
I got her a hello kitty headband from the tooth fairy the first time (was $2) and HK silly bands the second time (i think $1.50).
i told her the tooth fairy usually brings money for the rest of the teeth, and she goes "WOW! will she give me a quarter?!?!??!" and i was like bingo!! LOL.

rachel's so cute - she actually left a nickel as a thank you to the toothfairy for the gifts <3

Kelly, that is so sweet that she left a thank you nickel.

Allie lost her first tooth a few weeks ago. She had her first teeth around 4 months or so. Does not have any other loose ones right now that I know of.

The tooth fairy gave her a dollar for her tooth.

A few of Lucas' K friends have lost teeth. He still has all his baby teeth but is so excited for his turn to leave it for the tooth fairy. Most parents around here seem to give $1 and I think one or two do $5. I was just thinking that I should start keeping a few $1 bills hidden in the house so
I'm not scrambling trying to find something when he finally loses one.

For those who's kids have lost teeth. Do you put the tooth in something before you put it under the pillow? Otherwise wouldn't it be hard to find the tooth without waking up the kiddo?!? I need to know the tricks smile.gif

We didn't have a tooth pillow for Andrew's first tooth. I had planned on getting one someday, I know they make cute ones, but didn't think he'd loose his tooth so soon. It was loose one Sun morn, and out a few hours later. I was preggo at the time, so I wasn't able to go into town to get a fancy pillow. I don't know how to sew, so I took an old T-Shirt of mine, cut it up, stuffed it with cotton balls and glued the heck out of it.  I made a pocket in front. It is so, so bad. But, Andrew liked that we made it, so that's what we're going to use. His headboard is one with shelves, so we put the pillow on top of that.

Meghan has a very loose bottom tooth right now that should fall out soon.

I can't believe our babies are losing their teeth! AHHHH!!!!

She actually was a late teether. I don't think she got her first one until about 8-9 months.

I think I'll just get her a star wars coloring book and stickers or something and then the rest will be a dollar.

I have a plastic container with a lid shaped like a tooth(it is really small) they we got from my DS dentist.  When they pulled his baby teeth out they put it in that so we could take it home.

OMG, $20??? Not a chance. We will do a dollar. I asked Gavin what he knew about the tooth fairy and if he would rather have bills or coins and he said coins. I think I will get him a silver dollar if I have the time because he will think it is really cool to have such a big coin. He would not know the difference between a $1 bill and a $20 bill. He gets $5 a week for allowance so I think $1 per tooth is fair.
