My stepsister's 6 day old baby died this morning. They fed her then put her to sleep. When they went to check on her a couple hours later she was dead. I wish I could be there with her to help, especially knowing exactly what she's going through. I know she could use any prayers.
Thanks, everyone. My mom called last night with details. Apparently my sister (the one who called to tell me) was wrong on some of it. The baby was only 2 days old and should still have been in the hospital. My mom said that they had seen possible heart issues before she was born (decelerations in heart rate among other things) and the doctor ordered a 48 hour stay for the baby. The hospital let her go after 24 hours. She was dead before 48 hours.
My stepsister had fed her at 2 am Sunday morning. When she got up at 6 to feed her, the baby was unresponsive and cold so they called 911. The ambulance rushed her to the hospital. As they were waiting for the flight for life helicopter, she died.
My heart just breaks for them, knowing what they're going through.

Oh Alaina, how horrible!! Prayers out to you all!! Is there something she can do about the hopsital releasing her too early ?? I dont mean to sound lawsuit-happy, cuz I hate that when people jump to that over everything. But what I meant, in this situation, its a medical mistake that they could have easily avoided! So sad =( Will be thinking of you guys during the greiving time.
I thought of a lawsuit, too, since it was such an obvious mistake. But I don't think that would be a good situation for my stepsister and her husband to be in so I won't suggest it. I'm not a lawsuit type of person, but I think this kind of thing is justified.
