Hi!

How are things with everyone?

Have you noticed that your kids have an unusually high number of the same color clothes?

Do you put on your seatbelt before or after putting your car into gear?

Do you refrigerate peanut butter?

Hey Robin,

How's your day going?

Both of my kids are in school right now, the novelty of having the house to myself hasn't worn off yet. I find I'm always doing 5 or 6 things at once just to make the most of my time.

Yes Joe has a lot of red shirts, I don't know quite why that is. Bel doesn't have any one particular colour (despite her being a freak about pink). Maybe because I deliberately try and stay away from pink for her so it opens up a whole bunch of other colours for her.

I put my seat belt on as soon as I get in the car, it's so ingrained in me to do that that when I do forget to put it on for a few minutes I feel like I'm going to fall off the seat - I'm crazy.

We don't eat PB in this house but I do put my almond butter in the fridge. I love almond butter!

Joe has early release today. He seems to have one every month or so. Does everyone else's school do this? It seems pretty often to me. I promised him I would get the makings of lasagne all ready to go and then when he gets home he can assemble it, he is super excited. I hope Bel is having a nap then cause when they both want to help it gets competitive and therefore stressful for me.

I'm having a pretty good day.

I'm also adjusting to being in the house with no kids all day every day. Weird feeling.

Lucy - It's funny that you say Joe has a lot of red shirts. There's a little boy in Mark's class who plays with Mark all the time. I see his mom on a regular basis, and she's always telling me that her son can't remember Mark's name so he calls Mark "the boy with the red shirt". And sure enough, Mark is always wearing a red shirt when she talks to me. Today was Red Day in kindergarten so Mark was supposed to wear a red shirt. I got out all of his red shirts to let him choose. He had 8, I think. I already put them back in his dresser but he has AT LEAST 8 red shirts.

I don't know why but I always put on my seatbelt right after I put the van in reverse (when leaving my garage). The other day, I noticed my mom does it that way also. Dh waits until he's practically halfway to his destination before he puts on his seatbelt.

I don't refrigerate pb.

We have two school systems--one city, one county.

The county school system, where my kids go, NEVER has half-days, early release, or whatever (unless there's some sort of weather emergency like an ice storm).

The city schools have half days on a pretty regular basis, possibly once a month. Seems really inconvenient to me.

I bet Joe will have fun making your dinner. Mark LOVES to help me in the kitchen. I'm about to make some bread dough in my bread machine, and I'm a little sad that Mark isn't here to help me.

I'm having trouble removing my butt from this chair.

I need to:
-clean the toilet in the kids' bathroom
-finish loading and run the dishwasher
-fold and put away a pile of laundry
-fill out the 42,000 papers I need to fill out to sub at preschool
-find a 3-ring binder to put some important info

I'm sure there's more but that's a start.

BBL.

We have 5 early release days.  Two are for teacher conference and 3 for staff development.

Have you noticed that your kids have an unusually high number of the same color clothes?

-I think I buy Lucas a lot of blue shirts because blue makes his eyes pop. I try not to buy him red shirts because he wears a red shirt 5x a week because of his school uniform.

Do you put on your seatbelt before or after putting your car into gear?

-I honestly don't know. I think before but it is such a habit I just do it without thinking. I guess I'll have to pay attention next time.

Do you refrigerate peanut butter?

-no, it makes it super hard and tears the bread
