Jillian is in full day kinder and it's going very well :)  She is in a charter school (along with Ryan). This is our first year here, and so far with her I really like it. She enjoys going every day, and has made friends. She comes home everyday and tells me all about the other 2 girls.

The school is a "no homework" school for Kinders, but you can request work for them to do. So we have, and she's been very good with it. In fact, if I don't remind her to go and sit immediately after school she tells me "Mom, I need to do my homework" lol. I make them both sit and have snack and then homework, because Ryan is getting to an age to start habits and I don't want to deal with it later.

She's getting good behavior awards almost everyday, so I'm really proud of her.

Anyways our only issue is still mornings. She's so damn tired in the am no matter how early she's in bed. She is NOT a morning person (like before 8, we have to be up at 6:30) so sometimes we are scrambling trying to eat breakfast and do hair.

All in all, this are going very well. Although its so weird not having her home all day with me!

Jen I can't believe how early your school starts.

I would die.

We would never make it out of here on time.

Of course she's getting good behavior awards, she rocks!

It blows, dude. When I found out I wanted to switch schools to avoid it lmao. I think it's because there is a public school nearby and I think we start earlier to avoid more traffic issues. There's already a long line to drop off in the am, even though it goes quickly.

But, seriously most days I wanna cry lmao. Especially nights I work, because I get off work at midnight, home by 12:30 but then i usually can't sleep until 1 or 2 am..and then have to get up at 6:30 with them. It can be rough..Jillian hates it too lol. But, once she's up, she's up.  They get let out at 2:30.

And thank you! :) She is so good now, thank GOD. Makes up for that first 10 months lmao! ;)

School itself is going very well.

He loves it though he does thing they do too much sitting.

It's a home challenge we have right now. His level of general crazy is, well, crazy high. That is how he shows his anxiety about new things.

Huge mood swings. Bad behaviour followed by wonderful behaviour. The good is very good the bad is HORRID. I don't mind misbehaving but this is terrible.

It's only been one two day week, a four day week and this is the start of the first full week. I'm hoping the routine will be settled and he'll be comfortable. Because I won't make it. ;)

For example, we had a great bed time last night, bath - easy, I read three chapters of Annie and Jack, two books to Josie and sang two songs. Then he decided he wanted me to sing one more song. I said no. He yelled, cried and screamed for another hour. Out.of.control. He knew I would never sing after that. I finally had to bring him out of their room and sit him in a chair until he could calm himself down.

Then he was fine and went right to sleep like it never happened.

Kaylen loves it. She does have homework maybe once or twice a week. Its just cursive pages to work on. I do have her do it right after she eats lunch.

cursive???   most Kindergartners are just learning how to write and K's already learning cursive?

WOW!

I know I was shocked too. I guess Abeka just starts cursive instead.

seems like I was in 3rd grade when we started learning cursive..i think it was 3rd, I don't know, that was 100 years ago, haha

Did you know some schools don't even teach it now?  We have students that can't read cursive!  Crazy to me!

Travis has never learned to write in cursive and I can't remember if Nikki did.

We start at 8:45. He gets picked up at 8:05-8:10.

He loves it. He gets hot lunch and loves that. He is very wired when he gets home which I am hoping means he is very well behaved while there. Haven't had homework yet but we have back to school night tonight so we should find out more about that there. I signed up to be one of the room parents but don't know if I will get it (probably depends on how many sign up). Overall he is definitely still thrilled to go everyday.
