She has to be at the hospital at 9:00(not sure when the exact surgery is, she's the second of the day) then the surgery will be 4-7 hours depending on what the lymph nodes show. We are hoping that the lymph nodes are clear and wont have to be removed!
On top of everything she is going through, her boss decided to pay her for 3 days!! Really, 3 days?(she has to be off for 4-6 weeks)
1. have your someone (preferably not your sister since she has so much to think about) check with the hospital social worker. my experience has been that they have a TON of information on assistance both through the hospital (with bills) and outside the hospital (parking & transportation fees, assistance with dr bills, etc...)
2. look into the american cancer society - they have assistance programs too.
Thanks everyone. She texted me(i was in a meeting) her surgery is at 10:45.
Yes, her boss is an ass.
As soon as all of this is behind her, I hope that she finds a new job. Who could do that and look at themselves?
I have been looking into government programs that maybe will help her out. And she has paperwork to fill out from the hospital to probably lower the amount that she will have to pay out of pocket. I think she's waiting for all the bills to come in before she sends in the papers?
Thank you for the advise, I will see about talking to the hospital social worker.(i didn't even know that one existed.)
She is probably going to have enough food to feed her for a year after family and friends bring meals to her. I know my mom has already made her some things, and her neighbors are planning on bringing her meals, and my family will bring her things. So she'll be set there!
