i read this with great interest.

i did medifast several years ago. maybe 7 yrs or so? i lost 45lbs in 6 weeks and kept it off for quite awhile. i tried it again in nursing school but only made it 3 days. i went out with c for a walk and was certain i would literally pass out at any moment.

that said, i never ate when i did it. ihni if the instructions are different nowadays or if i was insane. i drank 5 shakes a day and that was it. hmmm....

although i found it very difficult that second time, i will say the first time was not that hard. i was only hungry the first 3 days i think. after that i was only hungry about every 3 hrs or so.

good luck! i hope everyone finds it very do-able. and congrats to the losers smile.gif

MF used to be all shakes but I thought that was back in the 70's. I didn't realize they only changed it recently.

I would for sure not be able to do this diet if it was all shakes.

Update on the pancakes.

They're fabulous.

Fabulous for someone who hasn't had real food in 2 weeks mind you.

I got the chocolate chip one and sprayed I can't believe it's not butter on it when it was done.

Me too!  I did Day 1 today based on the sheer excitement of this thread.

I really need to read on this diet, but it's so much easier to come here and ask, lol

You mentioned "day 1"..there are certain things they recommend for each day?

Oh and if you want to start a MF thread in MSBL I'll do my best to answer questions once you start.

I'm sure Erin will help too.

You will have questions, trust me.

Also, join the medifast boards. I searched like crazy on there in the beginning and got lots of good advice.

It's ALL been talked about.

They're talking about the maintenance bars.

I do all bar days when I travel and still lose weight.

I'm skagirl on there.

yeah.

my food won't be here til thursday or friday.  so it's only a few extra days.

i'm going to get my drink on for a few days and then be ready to go.  i'm even go to do some meal planning in the meantime.

when i lost all that weight a few years ago, i did best when i was completely OCD about it - tracking, thinking, eating, sleeping my plan.  i hope to do the same thing this time.

if i can lose 30 pounds, i will be thrilled.  hoping to do that in 2 months and then just be able to maintain.

So happy to see this thread here!!!!

This is the best diet in the whole world! I started at 185 and got to 145 in no time.

When I go off of the diet I fluctuate between 145 and 150, but don't just start gaining like crazy or anything.

April, you will find that everyone's tastes are different, so don't be discouraged if you don't like some of the stuff that other people said they do. Also, just because you don't like something the first time you try it, after you've been on the diet for a while you may find you like it.

On the bars, the only ones I like are the smores and cinnamon roll. I was sure I would just love the others and now I have a ton that I'm just trying to choke down.

There is a trick to cooking everything, so if it didn't turn out right the first time, just figure out the right way. Kristi has great tips on the stuff she's going to email you. Almost all the food tastes better if you soak it first.

Also, if you try the 4 and 1 and don't lose, then try the 5 and 1. If my calories go too far below 1000 then I stall out every time. I lose tons more when I stay the on the higher end of the scale. Everyone's bodies are different so just play around until you find what works for you.

The first 4 or 5 days are absolutely the hardest, but trust us when we say once you hit the 5 day mark, you will be amazed at how much energy you have and how you are never hungry. Truly amazing.

Go as long as possible before you ever cheat. Once you cheat the first time, it's so much easier to cheat the next time.

Good luck to those of you starting this. You will truly be amazed at the results. It makes me wonder if those that go the lap band route, knew about this diet first.

oh, also the shipping speed will depend on where you live. I almost always get my orders in 4 days after I order but I know tons of people complain about shipping where they live, so I'm sure it comes from different places. Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones.

Jaunita, I don't think anyone answered this, so I will.

When she says day 1 it's because the first 4 or 5 days are the hardest.  Really hard.  When you get through that, it's smooth sailing.

They don't recommend anything different on day 1.  It's just easier to tell yourself "1 day down, 3 to go," etc. to get through it.

ok, medifast models. I would love to see before and after pics of all of you have done medifast.

I am starting after labor day. I then will be in a more structured schedule after we return from the cottage.

Looking forward to shedding this weight and hope it is once and for all.

Kristi - you look awesome.

You know what I look forward to the most? My face! I am so sick of looking at my fat face in pics. I mean the rest of me needs it too, but my face is what bothers me the most. I think your face looks so different and younger since you lost the weight.

What does your hubby think of his new wife?

Gives me motivation. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it.

Is this pretty much the same as slim fast? Eat 1 healthy meal and their bars/shakes/soups the rest?

Yes same concept but I don't think slimfast is a low carb diet that puts you into ketosis. I could be wrong though.

This diet isn't low carb like atkins though where you have 10 or so carbs a day. You get 80 to 100 a day on MF.
