IDK if there has been a poll on this or not, I know some people here are waiting 'til next year for K. Still debating this with Andrew, and just wanted to see where everyone was with this...
I voted other because Brittany will be doing kindergarten and first grade work this year. Also, I don't have to register her as a homeschooler yet because the school district says she's not old enough for kindergarten yet (the cut-off date here is June 1) so she wouldn't even be able to go to kindergarten this year if she were to go to public school.
We aren't sending Elizabeth this year. So many of the kids are quite a bit older than her. Most also act older than her and at this point, I am in no hurry to make her grow up faster. We just think another year will help her gain some maturity she needs to handle school situations. I want her to go when she has a little more confidence and can maintain it so the self esteem issues that start around fifth grade will be easier for her to handle.
Aubrey will be attending K this year. They start the 24th and she is counting down the days. She is super excited and I think she is ready. She'll be going all day 7:50 - 2:50. So that sorta concerns me....she never went to pre K so this will all be new to her. I'll update after the first week. LOL

7:50??? Holy crap that's early. My kids would be late all the time. I am SO not a morning person. Our school starts at 9:05 thank goodness.
Sort of - Mason will be attending the first year of a 2-year kindergarten program for younger kids and kids who aren't really ready for kindy. It seems like a perfect fit for him, and I'm very happy we have that option through the public school.
Our cut off is Dec 31 so he's right in the middle of his class age group.
It's full day (9am - 2:45) but he's used to full days at daycare.
I think he'll love it and that he is ready.
When they changed the cut off (from Sept 30 to Dec 31), they changed the curriculum to account for the fact that they would potentially have 4.5 yr olds in the class. It is more play based and more focused on learning from everyday things rather than sit down and do math drills, etc.
Char's going to be in a smaller split class (Kinder/1), I think around 20 kids.

Ours is an 8 - 3 school.
My nephew's school is one of the few 9 - 4 schools around here but I think 4:00 is SO late to get out of school. And if a kid does any after-school sport or whatever, it would hard to squeeze in that plus dinner plus homework before bed. Also it gets dark here a little after 4 in the winter.
Dominic is totally ready and so excited. He starts September 7th. When he was 2 years 10 months the school district tested him so he could be in their pre-k program and at that time they said academically he was ready for kindergarten! It is just half day and we dont' know yet if he will be am or pm, he has a school success screening on August 31st so they will tell us then. I am a little worried socially how he will do, other 5 year olds just seem so much more mature then him but I just have to hope for the best.

Joe started K last monday. So far he loves it, which is a big improvement on last year, he really didnt have a good time last year at pre-k. He goes 8.40 - 3.15 (though the bus picks him up at 7.55 and drops him back at 3.30). He has been pretty grouchy when he gets home so I know it is a long day for him at this age but he will get used to it.

Raven goes 7:45-2:30. Stephen is 8:45-3:45 in high school. Something about high school kids getting more sleep that way.

I bet you are going to love that! Over here kidney is a 2 year program for 4 and 5 years. Same teacher. (mostly) same kids. I have always been so happy with the program that way! Love the stability with the same teacher especially.
We are doing another year of Pre-k. Christopher was the youngest one in pre-k last year (with four 5 yr olds with August birthday) and all the kids looked and acted older. I am happy with my decision.
Will be doing one more year of pre K. Christopher will go three semi full days (8:45 to 2:15) through the public school. He will also be getting OT 30 minutes a week to work on a few things. I am good with the decision. He is tall, but emotionally and socially young.
