i think i'm going to head out to do some grocery shopping in a bit. since dan is working afternoons i've had a little too much together time with the kids.

Hi all! I am in the office today, tons to do, but no motivaiton.

Sara, Keurig's customer service is awesome.  Call them, and they will take you through some trouble shooting, then, if it still doesnt work, they sent us a brand new one.  We have done that twice now.

all 3 of my daytime kiddos are at school today!

emily woke up this morning kicking and screaming "i'm so excited! i go to kindergarten today!"

so freakin cute.

i have a meeting for work at 1 today, so i had this morning to get some work done in peace.

i was hoping to print some target coupons and head over there this morning before my meeting, but it's not looking good since the target coupons are down. dang it.

Hi Erin and April!

April it sounds like you are busy! I am glad Em is so excited about kindergarten. You will have to let us know how her first day went. Is Jake loving his new school?

OMG Its so frustrating when you are looking for a second job to help cover bills. Then you check you E-mail and find out your DH has signed up for yet another game that you have to pay for each month. grrrrrr

i can't believe how early everyone else's kids start school.

i also can't believe how many k programs are full day.

there are 8 elementary schools in my town and each has 3-4 half day k classes...they don't have the staff or space to make all the k kids go full day.

idt connor could handle full day quite yet anyways, so that is fine by me.

I'm surprised by this too.

In our district (which Jake does not attend) full day is reserved for kids that qualify for extra help.  Same in the district we are sending him to.

i took kate in for her 3 year check up.

everything is fine - we did talk about her constipation issues which are chronic.  she said we could get an x-ray to check things out a little more closely.  she gave us an order.  we went to the hospital.  we registered.  we got called back.  kate freaked the eff out and was like hell to the no am I laying on that table!  we left without an x-ray.

I'm not too worried.  the doc said we need to limit her dairy to 2 servings per day - that would be 1 8 oz glass of milk + 1 serving of yogurt or 2 8 oz glasses of milk.  I know she gets more than that in a day.  So my plan is to cut out all dairy but 2 servings, up fresh fruit and veggies (which could be hard since the child does not need food to survive apparenty) and go from there.

Robin it sounds like you are having a fun day. I, on the other hand, have done some exciting things like dishes and clean the cat boxes. Try not to be jealous. Seriously, I am impressed with how you can play with your kids. I do once in awhile, but have a hard time doing it for any length of time.

ITA.  I get bored so quickly with their games.  It's fun to watch them play, but I can't stand to play with them.  Even as a kid I watched more than I played.

I so don't want to work today. or any day. I was planning to look for jobs this week but I have no desire to do that either.

I may need to try this no tv thing or at least cut back. maybe no tv after 7:30 would help. that's my new rule.

I have to pay extra for Ethan to go to full day K. Plus extra for afterschool. It still ends up cheaper than full time daycare and he spends the whole day in one place instead of shuttling back and forth.

LL, we will have to trade 5/EJ stories some time. Over drinks. (well I'll drink. you can laugh when I slur my words.)

Hi all!!  Catching up here...

Corey-all of our schools are full day here too.  They have had to make a number of changes and do some expansions in order to accomodate that.  In fact, Anna will be having K in a brand new wing at her school! (yay, she'll be the first to breathe in the toxic new carpet fumes, lol)  The county really pushed for it after parents started pushing about childcare being difficult.  I am sure I will get flamed for saying this, but I hate that I feel like my child has to be forced into all day school (and I very much feel all day is too much for most kids at this age) because it is easier logistically for working parents and bus drivers.  It feels like what is best for children isn't as important anymore.  I'm sure Anna will adjust, and she doesn't nap anymore, but she does rest in the afternoons and I just feel like this is too much too soon.  We contemplated private school, but none of them are half day anymore either, plus my neice who did that was WAY behind come 1st grade.  And homeschooling would not work for us.  She and I wouldn't work well together.

Ugh.  This growing up thing is hard.  On me, anyway, lol.

Ok, that was WAY too charged a post for my first in the thread for the day-sorry about that.

One of my sister's roommates asked if she could mow my lawn today for free. She's currently unemployed and bored. Needless to say, I told her, "Be my guest!"

K starts full time kinder on the 23rd. 9 -3:45. Im not worried about all day, since that is less time than day care has been. I am a bit nervous about bussing, lunch, naps, homework, etc. Not nervous, as much as wondering. There has been NO communication thus far about what to do or expect. The school was rebuilt and is moving into a new building this week, so the open house was canceled and they "dont have time to reschedule." they scheduled all the kids for a screening - the optional times were between 9am and 2 pm on a wednesday that both Kyle and I are scehduled to work in another city during the day. I just feel like I am lacking the info I want and need to send her off....

so, at the recommendation of our pedi i eliminated tv a week ago.

obviously no pediatrician is going to advocate tv watching in young children and a year ago i would've said "ya, okay...the YOU deal with them all day without having that break when they are watching tv."

since i was at my wits end i decided it couldn't hurt to give it a shot.

i am amazed at the difference in attitude connor has (grace isn't watching it either, but i have never had an issue with her anyways, minus the typical girl drama;)

we used to let them watch a show before bed to "calm down."

we would put them in bed  at 8:30, but he would be awake (and therefore keeping grace awake) until 10pm or later.

last night they went to bed at 8:30 and we asleep within 15 minutes.

Whoa.  You did away with TV???  You are brave.

But yay that it is helping him!!!  Is it helping with his sleep attitude or his attitude during the day as well? (and I haven't caught up, so you may have already had this question before)
