corey - jake went to all day kinder and it was great for me because i was a single parent. i went from paying full time day care to none. excellent on the budget. but he was also used to being out all day.

my kids don't start school until 8/25 and they are 1/2 day also. which, really, is only 9:15 - 11:45

sara-

call keurig. do you have your receipt? i think they will replace it if it has been 6 months or less.

did you only use distilled water in it? if not, you might need to do that vinegar wash that is in the manual.

GM! I really have to get work done today and I have a meeting in 15 minutes but I wanted to say hi.

LL, I think we should fix 5 and EJ up. They'd be bestest friends.

Ethan had a good day at school yesterday but EJ said he wouldn't go to sleep last night and complained about not having a nap. Which is funny because he used to complain that he had one. Figure it will take a couple of days for him to get used to it and then miraculously all our night time sleep issues will be solved. Right? Right? Someone say yes.

LMAO  If EJ is as bad as 5 then I am really really sorry.

We still have some minor sleep issues but most of Lucas's got resdolved when he started full day preschool last year so it is extremely possible that yes this could fix everything.

(Lucas still sleeps like crap at his father's though)

Elementary school starts here at the end of next week. We are going to have to figure out what to do since E doesn't start preschool until August 30. This i going to be an adjustment for us.

Alyssa, I am glad his first day went well. It's funny how kids complain about their routines but when you change the routine they don't like it either. Honestly, I do think that having to get up for school will help with sleep. It certainly won't hurt.

Sara, can you go grocery shopping for me too? I am trying to join on the coupon bargain deal saving train, but having trouble getting very far with it. I keep telling myself it will get better when I am organized. Now to just figure out how to organize and actually do it.

so, at the recommendation of our pedi i eliminated tv a week ago.

obviously no pediatrician is going to advocate tv watching in young children and a year ago i would've said "ya, okay...the YOU deal with them all day without having that break when they are watching tv."

since i was at my wits end i decided it couldn't hurt to give it a shot.

i am amazed at the difference in attitude connor has (grace isn't watching it either, but i have never had an issue with her anyways, minus the typical girl drama;)

we used to let them watch a show before bed to "calm down."

we would put them in bed  at 8:30, but he would be awake (and therefore keeping grace awake) until 10pm or later.

last night they went to bed at 8:30 and we asleep within 15 minutes.

i can't believe how early everyone else's kids start school.

i also can't believe how many k programs are full day.

there are 8 elementary schools in my town and each has 3-4 half day k classes...they don't have the staff or space to make all the k kids go full day.

idt connor could handle full day quite yet anyways, so that is fine by me.

 You have 8 elemantary schools?!?!?!?!

My old town had 2 and when we moved 4 years ago did not have all day because they didnt have the room. They just restrusctured the entire system and have full day now.

My current town just phased in full day over the last 2-3 years. We only have 3 elementary schools though so either your schools are really small oryour town is enourmous compared to mine LOL

Lucas goes to bed much easier without TV.

What the hell do you do with them all day with no TV LMAO

I was home 2 days this week and want to rip out my hair

Hi Corey!

libby, one thing i can suggest with the coupons...

most couponing websites have a "coupon database."

basically you can plug in the name of a product, say poptarts, and it will list every coupon currently available for that item and where to find it.

for example:
it might link to a printable site, say it was in the sunday red plum insert on 8/1/10, or is from a tearpad at gas stations, etc...

i usually take my weekly flyer, circle what i want, then look up those items to see what is available so i am not on a wild goose chase hunting down coupons.

within the last month or so i completely eliminated my binder and just file my inserts in a manila folder by what sunday it came out, then when i need something i just clip as needed.

it is saving me lots of time with the new babe and all:)

gm. I have a decent amont to do today. K has her eye appt. and I have to drop off the preschool form at the peds office to be signed.

Scott woke up with white bumps (bites?) on his legs. They dont look like bedbug bites because they arent red at all just either a little paler or same color as his skin. So today I have to wash his bedding in hot water. He doesnt seemed bothered by it at all though.

I don't know the first thing about couponing.

In the past I would end up using coupons on things I wouldn't normally buy just because I had a coupon.

I also buy the store brands all the time and always found they were less then the name brand even with a coupon.

I have never ever gotten something free because of coupons

yep, 8.

2 middle schools, 2 high schools, and 1 charter school.

my town is huge (area wise) though--134 sq miles, i believe, so realistically we couldn't have much less or the travel time would be insane.

Thank you!  I am going to try that manila folder idea.  That I think I would actually be able to do.  I have looked a little on full cup but is there a better site to look up coupons?  At some point I might actually order them but for now I am just doing this small scale.

Corey can set you up.  biggrin She has me convinced along with some others that started doing it.  I don't necessarily get things free, but I figure even if it's $5 a week I save, that's $20 a month I have to do something I want with like go see a movie or buy some refreshing adult beverages.

We also have a grocery store here that sends text coupons I just signed up for.  I have scored a free two litter of pepsi and this week I can pick up a gallon of sweet tea.  It doesn't matter how many times you go in the store that week either so in theory one could get lots of freebies.

Has anyone here signed up for the Target text messages? I just wonder if they are worth it. I have free texting so I am tempted.

i need to get my butt in gear and drag my kids to the town hall to buy a dump sticker.

it is $182. grrr.

last year's sticker expired june 30 and instead of renewing we decided to give trash pickup a shot.

after a month and a half i am done. the guy only comes once per week so if i decide to clean my fridge, etc at the beginning of the week the trash is disgusting by saturday.

plus he had a six bag per week limit and he also wouldn't recycle.

i would rather bring it myself.

i emailed them. they basically said i need to "descale" it. i googled that and have been trying to run it with vinegar. still only getting 1/2 cup.

if i can't solve the problem that way today i'll be calling them.
