Mark and Henry's friends kept getting stuff out of the top of Mark's closet--you know, that stuff that I put there because the kids couldn't reach it. Stuff they weren't supposed to be getting at all.
They had a box of Barbie dolls that were my mom's when she was a little girl. I got those collected and put in my room, then Glen started hollering AT ME [I don't think so.] that I needed to clean *my* stuff out of Mark's closet.
When I went to see what the problem was, Chad had a spray can of lacquer. Thank goodness he couldn't get the lid off.
So I had to tell the kids that the stuff in the tops of the closets where my kids couldn't reach was there because the kids weren't supposed to mess with it.
Good thing I already had "clean out all the closets" on my list of stuff to get done while the kids are in school.

I can't even reach the top of my closets without something to stand on.
We went to my inlaws farm yesterday. It is such a drive (3+ hours each way), but so worth it.
We spent the morning at a fair in the tiny village which is always adorable. The afternoon was spent getting what we could out of our garden since we won't get back for four weeks and by then much of it will be past. We're going to miss the tomatoes altogether, they were all still green as the grass :( Such a bummer.
BUT...got several bags of green beans, broccoli, carrots, and something like 10 cucumbers- and that was after I was giving away cucumbers to anyone with a pulse.
As a bonus, the blackberry trees were ripe, so we picked 4 quarts. I don't love blackberries, but the boys like them. I thought my inlaws would take half so they wouldn't have to deal with the prickles themselves, but they declined...so today I need to look up recipes to use all these blackberries before they go bad.
In a slight bummer, the wild blueberry patch we usually get several gallons out of on public land was plowed under this year and is now regularly mowed. I'm guessing they were tired of crowds stopping to pick. Huge bummer there.
and on a funny garden note, our garnen is a long strip next to our inlaws main garden. They didn't plant pumpkin or squash. We planted both.
Our pumpkins and squash decided to rule the garden and sent runners over grass and into the main garden. They are taking over the whole thing.
There are already squash the size of footballs. We think by September they will have literally taken over the whole garden. Now they are also sending runners over the other side over grass and towards the pond. One pumpkin is already decent size and has lawnbmower scars since it is not in the garden at all and my FIL didn't see it before knicking it with the mower. If he makes it, he will be huge. And names scarface.
I'm going to try a new adult Sunday school class this morning.
I was trying to talk Glen into going with me but as usual, he had tons of excuses.
He thinks the people in my current (and possibly former) SS class will think he didn't like them if he goes to a different class with me, since he never went with me before.
I certainly hope my friends in that class don't think I don't like them.
It's promotion Sunday for the kids as well--Mark is going to the Kindergarten SS class.
Henry will stay in the same class because 4th and 5th grade are combined.
Glen and I talked about switching Henry's room with the computer room.
I was thinking about closet space and other things, and the closet in this room is way better--it has two bars for hanging clothes, and they're the right height for his bigger clothes.
Right now, his teeny closet has one low bar on half the closet. All of his clothes drag the ground.
We went ahead and moved his bed in here last night.
I wanted to see if he liked it in here before we moved the rest of the stuff.
Also, I'm thinking maybe it wasn't the smartest idea to change it RIGHT before school starts.
Jenn, the gardening sounds wonderful. You know you can always just freeze your blackberries and then use them later in things like pancakes, muffins, cobbler, or even just eat plain. Whatever you do, I am sure your boys will love it.
Robin, your dh is so funny. Isn't the point of going to church to learn? Why would anyone be mad at him for going to a different class? Has he been talking to the fifth grade girls? Besides, you can pull the trump card on this one since you have the official lineage on your side and are the expert. I would think you would know.
My ds is moving back in, or should I say has all of his stuff piled in. He may only be here for a month or two. His method of dealing with things is putting them in the very cleanest areas for me to deal with. Let's just say he can be difficult to deal with when it comes to things like this. I am praying that I can stay calm and not lose my marbles.
and living with someone else is so hard. i'm trying to do everything right, but i just know that's not possible. i'm going to try to get out of here with the kids for a bit today so that i can let jammi and kevin have a day with the kids without us.
our children's museum pass works here (it's reciprocal around the country) so maybe i'll take them over there to run around for a while.
we have an awesome light rail system here too. i was going to see if there's a convenient way to take the light rail to the museum. jake would LOVE that.
April, we were just at the children's museum last month. My kids had a blast and didn't want to leave. Well, the younger 3 did, anyway. Rebecca sulked that we were there at all and Crystal was just bored mostly. We were there for a good 2 1/2 hours.
I haven't seen my kids this morning. They were up before I was and have been playing in their room with the door shut since I got up. They're playing nicely together, which is soooooo nice.
April... I understand completly. Once you are all o. Your own is very difficult to live with others. Do you know when are you seeing Matt again?
We are staying in an apartmant that Alex will use when working down here. I'm going home tonight (2.5 hours) with the boys and after having him home for 9 months we are going to miss him a lot.
