How did the doc/nurse do the eye test at your child's well check-up?
When Henry was 5, I had him all excited about the eye test because he LOVED letters and numbers and thought it would be so fun to show them how he knew them all.
But at our ped, the chart is pictures--sailboat, cup, heart, circle, that sort of thing. The nurse takes the child right up to the chart to ask them all the symbols to make sure they know what they are, then they go stand WAAAAY back, cover one eye and tell her the symbols she indicates with her finger. Then the other eye.
Henry was disappointed that it wasn't letters but I guess I'm glad since Mark does NOT know all of his letters. The symbols were much easier for him.
We go tomorrow for Owen's 5 year. If I remember correctly from Bryce it was symbols but might be some letters as well.
Also, if I am remembering correctly they have to pee in a cup. I see this being drama with Owen, not only because of doing that but he can hold his pee for hours and after he goes when he wakes up usually does not go again until lunch and his appt is at 9:30, so I am going to have him go in a cup here at home tomorrow morning and take it in.
The good thing is no shots since we did those all at 4. WOOT!!
The Lions Club along with her pediatrician did an eye test while she was in preschool, but it wasn't a chart thing..they used some new machine that could detect certain diseases. She passed thank God.
Lucas pediatrician does both but now we just skip that and go straight to his eye Dr because he wears glasses and has eye issues. It was actually first caught last year at his Pedi before preschool. I am so thankful that they require eye tests for school!
