Every year when they talk abpout tax free weekend I think the same thing.

There is a clothes tax in CT but it is on single items priced over $75, definitely not the Garanimals from Walmart that Lucas wears.

ya, thinking about paying tax on clothes or food just seems bizarro to me and i supposedly live in taxachusetts. i suppose my lack of clothing tax is more than made up for in terms of property and income tax.

interesting.

we pay tax on food too. (our general tax rate - food & clothes - is 7.75% i believe and cook county (chicago) is at or damn close to 10%.

do you have a flat income tax rate there?

right now illinois has a flat income tax of  3% but the governor is trying to get it bumped up to 4.5%.

speaking of what we pay for things. ....

i registered my kids for public kindergarten today. $93.00 a piece plus the supply list.

i got a bill in the mail for Jake this year. he's a sophomore so we're paying $250.00 for him to take driver's ed through school (otherwise it's $1000 privately). his total bill for this year alone, at the public high school, is $598.00.

i almost threw up.

i just got fb friend requests from my friend's two daughters.

they are 8 and 6.

yes, 8 & 6 years old.

why do they need a facebook?

we just let jake get one when he turned 15.

i already ignored a request from another friend's 9 year old son.

caroline is sleeping over at my parent's house tonight.

mikey was getting ready for bed and asked me "hey, where's my sister?"

heart.gif

i love that they are close.

they almost never fight.

bennett, on the other hand, fights with everyone.

i think the reality of changing schools is starting to hit jake and i don't think he likes it.

cry

i feel so bad for him and i don't want him to have to face this.

... but it was his own doing.

being a parent sucks sometimes.

i have never worked at a school that had a registration or book fee.

no fees at all.

crazy.

in nj, we had no tax on clothes or food. here in CO, we have tax on clothes, but some counties tax food and others don't (no tax here in highlands ranch, so i just make sure to do the grocery shopping close to home).

corey, question for you in my next post...

corey, any tips on how to get with the coupon swing here with the different stores?

i checked AFC and HCW and neither have much for forums for my 3 grocery stores. :/

i did a google search for coupon blogs and didn't find much.

i'm worried i'm going to lose my hobby. :(

that does suck for him, but you're totally right.

he's old enough to accept and face the consequences.

I would be very happy to pay a book fee if they actually got books.  Our fee is 60 for instructional material usage fee, school id, lockers and technology.

Everything here is taxed except food.
