One thing that I have been waiting for since the day we moved it.
We have an old water softener downstairs. When we moved in, they told us it was working. They lied.
So one plumber told us it was disconnected.
It looks like it never was so some of our water may have been running through the old nasty tank. Not the tub, luckily, with the dead floating spiders, but the tank is bad too. I'm wondering if it explains Meghan's eczema. We'll have to see. I could not be happier about this. Seriously. It's been a weight on me for a long time! YAY!!! And that side of it only cost $200. I really thought to disconnect and seal off the pipes and then remove the crazy heavy tank and crazy heavy full of spiders, old water and salt tub would be a lot more. True the work he is doing on the pipes in our kitchen adds to the bill but I can live with that as long as that NASTY TUB IS FINALLY OUT OF THIS HOUSE!! YAY!!
Part of me is so excited. I'll have more time alone with Abby just when she should start getting fun (LOL). I'll be able to get work done. And this may sound silly but it's HUGE to me... I won't have to tell Meghan "I don't have time to right now. I have to do x,y,z" as often. I hate having to do that and have had a lot since I've worked at home her whole life.
Then there's that side of me that realizes that this it. There is no going back. She is now in the school system and I can't just decide not to send her to preschool one day so we can go to the park. Or eat lunch with her everyday. So that side of it is hard of course.
I'm just glad we already have another baby in this house or I'm sure I would be dying to have one right about now! And I'm also elated that I will never ever ever again have to live through the newborn days! LOL
I know this will make the teachers cringe but every once in awhile I kept Travis home from school just because. seriously not often, once or twice a year and he was never out sick, but I would take the day off from work and he and I would have a date day and go to lunch or a movie.
I probably won't do this with Lucas LOL it will depend how his progress is over the years.
i have to go pick up emily's flip flop at the grocery store today (she lost it in there yesterday and i searched everywhere but couldn't find it. they called last night to tell me someone turned it in).
then we have to go get all her school supplies. for those who haven't seen her list, i posted it in yesterday's thread - it's worth seeing.
I have never seen a list that big. Raven needs 6 glue sticks, scissors, 2 boxes(24 ct) crayons, wipes, paper plates and towels, bottle glue, markers, ziploc bags, tissues, sanitizer, pencils and dry erase markers.
School starts Wednesday. We are going to Stephen's school to pick up schedule, fees, id, etc. today. Tomorrow we are going to Raven's school. It will be the first time seeing the school since that remolded it and went from middle school to preschool/kindergarten. Also the first time meeting her teacher. She is so excited and ask me everyday when school starts. Nice having at least one kid excited.

remember the good old days when you got to school on the first day and there were supplies already waiting in your desk?
i totally understand the crayons/glue/etc, but scissors? didn't every classroom used to have a big bin of scissors? how often do scissors need to be replaced?

Giant bin of scissors with a couple of green handled ones for the lefties.
I def needed stuff by middle school but in elementary school you went to school with your backpack and lunch and that was it. Ok maybe pencils. But the classrooms had enough boxes of crayons/glue etc to go around when it was needed. It was all in the big closet.
1. I do not know if kindergarteners are allowed to have hot lunch (they may eat in the classroom)
2. There is no way Lucas could get his own hot lunch
Lucas will have a full time aid. I am assuming the aid will help at lunch time?? I was wondering when the aid would get a break but Lucas has special ed every single day outside the classroom so when the aid brings him there they will be free for a little bit.
I want to get in touch with his preschool teacher about this and see what she can tell me.
I am just having a really hard time seeing Lucas able to handle these normal everyday things and definitely see why he was given an aid.
