I can see why you guys feel this way. I have to keep reminding myself that europe is very different from america with regards to nudity. Funny, yesterday we were at the columbus zoo waterpark with a good friend and her kids and we were eating lunch there and clara apparently didnt want to eat in a wet suit so she dropped her swimsuit and put her sundress on. I didnt even notice until my friend said "oh my GOD you child is naked" in such a way you would think she just robbed a bank. It took her maybe 15 seconds to get her dress on, she had it prepared so no running around per say. Oops!


lmao!  mason started stripping at the beach this week and i had to stop him.  kind of hard to explain to him that it was ok in europe but that here in the US he can't do that.

alison, i don't think this would bother me either, but i am also used to seeing little kids naked all the time too.  it just is not a big deal in europe and there isn't the constant paranoia that some perv is watching your kid.  i think that the fact that *you* were not comfortable with it is enough.  if you don't like it, then you should bring it up and see what the director says.  maybe they don't even know it is happening.

Late to the bandwagon but wanted to offer huge hugs cause I know it would not go over well here.  Lily would have FREAKED!!  She has never seen a penis and the questions would be ENDLESS!!!

How did it go with the school?

Also late to the bandwagon, but this would not have bothered me personally in the least.  I do understand the thought that a school/daycare might need to be a bit more conservative in this area to accomodate everyone's personal feelings, but among my peers with kids, the just-turned-fives are still undressing in front of one another for swimming without anyone batting an eye.  The 8-year-olds have all developed personal modesty over the past couple of years and dress in private, but the littles haven't felt like it was an issue, and we follow their lead.  I don't understand the fears and anxiety about the "penis vs vagina discussion" -- how about, "Yep, boys have penises and girls have vaginas."  Don't 5-year-olds already know that, having parents of both sexes?  I guess the really inquisitive ones might push the "why?" and you might feel like discussing intercourse would be the next step (which of course they aren't ready to hear) but you could simply leave it as "we're just made differently".
