So, were you a bus rider to school or a walker?  Did you like it?  Would you want your kids to do it?

In grades K-8 I was a school bus rider then in high school I was a school bus and city bus rider (usually took the school bus to school but then went downtown after and took the city bus home)

I like the idea of kids being able to walk to school. We are walking distance to Lucas's school and I plan on walking him there/picking him up and walking home whenever possible. Of course in this day and age in most areas you couldn't let your kid just walk alone until they were wicked old LOL

I am effing exhausted. I woke up at 3 and texted Joe cuz I didn't get my "I'm home, I love you" text. He had just gotten home and we ended up texting for an hour. (why I have no idea when we could have just talked on the phone for 10 minutes, actually I do know why we were texting never mind hee heebiggrin)

Then I could not fall back to sleep.

I was up until 6. My alarm goes off at 7:30. Today I hit snooze until 8:10 and barely made it out the door.

Only one more sleep until my love is home though heart.gif

Gm.

I'm still around on the basic board.

I emailed Damon last week to up my membership, and I saw Tex's post, but I'm going to wait until Hannah's birthday party to renew, since I have 2 major papers due for school, and a test this week, in addition to all the cleaning, decorating, shopping, and preparing that I need to do for Hannah's party. I don't need the additional distraction this week, lol. Plus, I spent all my fun money at the toy clearance sale at Target, so I gotta wait for payday.

Anyways, I rode the bus. I loved it when I was little (made me feel big), then hated it until high school, where I thought I ruled the roost until it became pathetic, and I got my license, lol. Hannah is adament about riding the bus, and so we're going to try it out. We'll see how it goes. Everything bad I learned as a kid, I learned on the bus (but we rode with another school, and they were private school kids, and I learned it from them, lol... so maybe it won't be bad.) I never wanted Hannah to ride (especially because it's not like there's anything prohibiting my ability to take her), but if she likes it, we'll let her do it since the pickup and dropoff situation at her school is a complete clustereff.

I did um, nothing in my house last night

I did get rid of the couch though. I put it on freecycle and this young girl came and got it for her first apartment. She was so cute with her 2 friends LOL

So now I gained back all that space and have to decide how to properly utilize it

I'm not paying for cocktail right now. Maybe for my birthday in September I will splurge on it. I decided if I was gonna spend $20 on myself it's gonna be on a manicure and eyebrow wax LOL

I would be in a real bind of Lucas wasnt still riding the little bus. I would NEVER let him on the big bus (i say never I mean he is nowhere near ready) They will keep him on the little bus as long as it's in his IEP.

I have no idea how I am going to cook every night once Joe is here.

I certainly don't do it now, we love our unhealthy frozen goodness LOL

He won't eat that crap. We were also going over some things I like to make for dinner that are not gonna work for him (like breakfast for dinner is probably not filling enough for him) He is definitely going to have to be involved in the meal planning and shopping or he may starve.

I was a bus rider. I didn't mind it when we lived in a small town, but when we moved just outside of Memphis the bus ride was terrible and I became rather educated in derelict ways. The ride was an hour and a half long. It sucked! I will be taking Elizabeth to school, although I think she could ride the bus there even though it's a private school. There's just no reason for me not to take her. My ds did ride the bus to school until we moved here. He also got quite the education riding the bus. Once again, one more reason to take E to school. lmao.gif

April, I hope the first day at Jake's new school goes fantastic! He is adorable and they will love him.

I am impressed with how quickly you manage to get things in place. How is Emily doing? I sure hope Matt gets there soon. I would say from your fb posts, he is missing all of you.

You need to get E-Mealz.

It's my lifeline.

I haven't used it this week, because I suck. But, we eat for about $50/week (for dinners, anyways) when I stick to the plan. I haven't made anything that I didn't like yet, and that's saying a lot because I'm crazy freaking picky.

Joe can suck it on the breakfast for dinner disliking. Breakfast for dinner is the ish!!!

Good luck to Jakers at his new school!!! He's got so much personality, that I can't see it being hard for him to adjust and make new buddies. And I bet having that routine will really help him adjust to everything going on right now.

LL, I don't see why Joe can't make supper too. You can still make breakfast for dinner. Just throw in some potatoes and make sure there is some meat. You can make a breakfast cassarole with layers of potatoes, meat, cheese, onions/green pepper/tomatoes/veggies of your choice, and dump the eggs over it. That is easy and stick to your ribs.

Is he a picky eater or is he more into being healthy?

It's not that he doesn't like it, just that his skinny azz requires a lot of food to fill him up.

Tell me more of this E-Mealz

Joe would eat out every night if he could (he usually does now, but it's cheap for him to eat at work) and we def cannot do that. Well we could but then we will never be able to get a car or move.

He is wicked picky.

And he will totally help cook but with him taking the bus home from work it's gonna be late when he gets home. I will be home for hours by then and would much rather have dinner ready or close to ready so we can eat and he can have his night time playtime with Lucas.

On nights he is able to get a ride or once we get a car he will def be helping more but I actually enjoy doing this kind of stuff when it is for someone who will appreciate it.

I rode the bus in first grade, then we moved and I changed schools so I walked to school from 2nd grade through 6th grade, rode the bus to middle school for 7th and 8th grade, then I walked to high school . . . until I got a car. Then I drove to school.

I love it that my kids can walk.

LL will he eat crock pot meals? I love doing those because they always seem to make clean up so much easier after dinner. I know if I do a roast in mine, my family gobbles that up. I also do some soups in them. I am always on the look out for new crock pot recipes. :dork:

How's the heartburn? Are you having to watch what you eat because of it? I always had terrible heartburn when pregnant.
