we had the kids birthday party yesterday and I'm exhausted.
we did a beach party and we invited both daycare classes (18 and 27 kids) + families and siblings.
It is a long weekend so we got a small (relatively) group of people.
There were 20 kids all together and their parents. It went SO well.
I kept it really moderate - the only real loot we did was a dollar store beach ball. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on junk.
We did fresh veggies and dip and a few bottles of juice for the food.
I was going to make cupcakes and then i came to my senses and bought two store bought cakes. I let charlie pick since he wanted cupcakes and all was perfect.
The beach has a picnic area so we lucked out getting a table. gave the kids the beach balls as they arrived and set them loose on the grassy area.
they had a blast. Then we did cake and hit the beach.
It was a perfect day and everyone asked us to make it an annual event.
we didn't do gifts - we asked for a food bank donation (i feel like you can't invite 40 people + and ask for presents).
anyway, that was my long post for the day.
Sonys, that is awesome! My goal in life is to have some gathering that my friends and family want to be an annual event. We dont have much in the way of family traditions, and I soooo want my kids to have some. The beach party sounds fantastic!
I love the food bank donation. A friend of mine collected kids books (as in, everyone just bring a book or two that you no longer read or want) and then donated them to the women's/kids shelterin town. I thought that was a great idea also and need to remember it for next year.
Joe's friends have tons of annual parties (4th of July was one, this last weekend was the 5th annual horseshoe tournament). It's crazy I have never seen anything like it. He said it kind of sucks that we live 2 hours away and will never have a house big enough for everyone to crash here so we can't throw a party. I'm not sure I'm ready for that pressure anyway LOL
it was pretty nice that everyone was so happy with the party. i do plan on doing it annually (though if we sell the house it won't be so easy).
mike said he's never been to a birthday party where everyone said they couldnt' wait to do it again. He says he usually thinks "when the hell will this be over". lmao
it was so low key and the beach provided all the entertainment.
annnnnnnnnnnnd now I have to talk to DS1's girlfriend's mother about previously mentioned body part pictures.
have you heard the song Hate my Life?
well, that is me.
Ugh Kris, that is awkward...but at least you care enough to have that conversation. And better she (the girlfriend) learns a lesson now and not it some other instance when the whole school gets a hold of similiar pics.
I'm not looking forward to the tween-teen years. at all.
I need maternity clothes (or bigger regular clothes LOL)
I am trying hard not to buy them because I am going to be much larger in the winter
I have exactly 4 pairs of pants and 3-5 shirts I can wear right now.
This is going to make cleaning out my closet easy. I'm just boxing everything. By the time I can wear them again we will (hopefully) be living in a bigger place and my stuff will already be packed LOL
Nikki has a job opportunity that is going to make it impossible for her to babysit for the next month.
I am totally screwed.
Is Travis old enough to help? I can't remember how old he is.
He is 12.5 and yes he definitely can but I don't want to make him responsible for Lucas for the rest of the summer especially because he is helping with my niece in the afternoons.
I can't even put him in daycare. It's not like I can drive him anywhere.

UGH
We have had issues with Travis with texting. No inappropriate pics but def. inappropriate subject matter. Tweens suck.
