I sent an email request to get in Cocktail Chat but haven't received a response so y'all come out here and chat with me.

K?

Thanks.

Henry watched the iCarly episode during which the kids get lookalikes to pretend to be them and press computer keys to make recorded responses when Spencer asked questions.

So Henry wanted something where he could do the same.

He scraped up all of his money and went to Target this evening and bought a microphone.

So we've been playing with that for the last hour or so.

Fun times.

I baked Mark's (first) cake for our celebration at my parents' house tomorrow.

It's a french vanilla cake.

I'll probably frost it with chocolate buttercream.

And Mark said he wanted a Spiderman theme so I bought a way-overpriced Spiderman toy at Walgreens to put on top of it.

Mark's kid party is Sunday afternoon so I'll need to make yet another cake for that.

Plus he said wanted brownies also.

His actual birthday is on Monday so maybe I'll make the brownies for that.

His party is a water party in our backyard so I got fish/underwater plates and napkins.

Mark whispered to me at lunch today, "I don't care if it's a water party. I still want a Spiderman cake".

So I was thinking maybe putting some little cookie goldfish or something around the edges of the cake with Spiderman in the middle.

He's not picky.

I have 20 water squirters--large plastic crayon-looking things from the dollar store--that the kids can play with at the party, then I'm sending those home with the kids in lieu of treat bags.

I also saw Toy Story 3-themed silly bands at Walgreens this evening so I'll probably send each kid with a couple of those as well.

They didn't have any Spiderman ones although they did have Iron Man.

I have many water guns, 75 balloons for making water balloons, and several plastic boats.

I wrapped Mark's presents a few minutes ago.

I got him: an English/Spanish Buzz Lightyear with pop-out wings, a "fighting" Zhu Zhu pet, and a couple of Batman costumes.

Henry wrapped him up a set of planets and space-themed felt pieces and is planning to give him his flannel board. These are Henry's things that he decided Mark would like.

Henry also gave him six dollar bills--"one for each year plus one to grow on". He couldn't wait until his birthday to give it to him so he gave it to him today. It was such a nice idea, and Henry was so excited about it. Mark's response--"Henry's so dumb." Sigh.

Morning!

I just got home from walking (with two or three very very short bursts of running.)

I was SOOO hungry that I couldn't go any further; I had to come home to get something to eat.

I just finished a bowl of cereal.

What are your plans for the day? Or the weekend? Or the week?

I made Mark's cake last night, so it needs to be frosted.

I have a HUGE stack of coupons to take to Walgreen's today.

Glen and I decided to start giving Henry and Mark an allowance and to stop buying them stuff all the time.

They can save their money and buy their own stuff.

$5 for Henry, and $2.50 for Mark.

Idr if we agreed on every week or every other week.

DYK I don't wear a bra when I go walking/running in the mornings?

I did for a while but it got so gross and sweaty that I thought I'd try without.

Much better.

Fortunately I'm pretty flat-chested.

One of my Zumba instructors is much better blessed than I am, and for a while she wasn't wearing a very supportive bra; I thought she might knock herself out.

She has since fixed the issue.

I scheduled Mark's party for tomorrow afternoon because my across-the-street neighbors have VBS at their church all day today.

I was going to take my kids there plus her kids (Mark's friends) were going to be there all day.

Since I scheduled Mark's party for tomorrow, my mom scheduled Mark's family party for lunchtime today.

So my kids aren't going to that VBS.

It's also Randy's bday (my brother), and he was only available at lunchtime today.

Good morning Robin! It sounds like you have a busy weekend.

We are having Elizabeth's party Sunday too. I am going into uncharted waters today and making her one of those doll cakes. I am praying that the cake comes out of the bowl because I had to buy a special cake mix that is over five bucks a mix. There are some guests with egg allergies so that's what I had to do.

I am going to attempt buttercream icing too. I hope I can get the frosting smooth and looking better than as if E did it. Decorating it is actually the most intimating part for me. It would have cost less to actually have had it made, but for some reason I think I need to make the cake. At least this way I will have practice for next time.

I bet the cake will be great!

I'd really like to try making some cupcakes with Megan's method that I saw on her FB page--for Mark's party.

Today I need to clean up the backyard or get the boys to clean it.

Glen's home with doughnuts; I'm off to eat.

i confess that a cherry pitter may have been my best splurge as of late.

i confess it is so much easier than biting around the pit.

i confess it was $15, but told my husband it was $10??

i confess then i had to delete my f/b post b/c i didn't want to incriminate myself for lying.

i confess idk why i lied over $5--he could care less.

i confess he is a big spender and i give him crap about it alot, so when i buy something overpriced i feel guilty for nagging him about the same thing.

i confess i already warned him not to make me mad this weekend...fresh cherries makes his throat swell shut so if he annoys me i might sneak some into his food in a moment of hormonal rage;)

Hey ladies.

Yay for parties!

Corey, I'm not laughing at you in the mean way, but holy ish, your posts made me lmao. Now I feel bad that I was teasing you in the other thread and asked you to have a baby today, lol. Good thing I wasn't close enough to you irl to take a bowl of cherries to the face!

What pitter did you get? I think Malin was just talking about one the other day, too. I try not to bog down my kitchen with tons of stuff that have a very specific task, but I looooove cherries and hate spitting the pits out like a bafoon, so I am thinking I need to make an exception.

I have a metal cherry pitter too.  I love it.  It was under 10 bucks, but still works well.  If you buy one, one word of advice, make sure it has  a decent sized hole or the pits don't go through.

I'm going to look at the store when I go later... I'm trying to convince myself that I do not need to make the hour long trip to and from Bed, Bath, and Beyond just to get a cherry pitter. Especially since I can't leave BB&B with just what I intended to buy.

Ever. Especially with their clearance.  The last time I went, my sister just wanted a watermelon cutter. I was going to stay in the car to avoid temptation, but I knew my sister would not be quick. It is Bed, Bath & BEYOND, afterall.  I bought 3 huge clearanced out picture frames, a peeler that goes on your finger (seriously, super awesome though, since I have shakey hands), soap, and other things I didn't really need.

I'm obsessed with rainier cherries, and they are only in season for a few weeks, so I need to get on it.

leah-

it was a plastic and metal cherry pitter hanging in the kitchen gadget section at bbb where the avocado slicers/lemon zesters/etc hang.

it has 8 holes--4 large and 4 small. it can only cut 4 at a time, you can flip it depending on what size you have. i am obsessed and want to pit cherries all afternoon now.biggrin

Awesome.

I remember seeing that one when I was searching for Malin's, lol.

Both of which are at BB&B.

Which is not helping me convince myself that I don't need to go, lol.
