LL Im glad you finally were able to tell her but sorry about her reaction.

DH surprised me yesterday that he had yesterday and today off. We would have gone on a trip but K is still sick and Raym has his 6 month eval with early intervention this morning.

I hate these meetings. They say to make goals and I have no clue what they mean. They just end up suggesting things and I say yeah ok that.

Tracy I had the hardest time with that with Lucas also. Infact I still do because part of his IEP's  for school is creating new goals.

Basically think about a skill or milestone he hasn't mastered. Does he eat with utensils?? Can he put on his clothes? (I cant think of how old he is or if he should even be able to do this yet).  How is his speech is there a specific phrase or concept you want him to understand??

I found it was hard to name goals because I was never sure how much he was capable of but if he doesn't reach the goal in the amount then you rewrite and keep working on it.

(((hugs)))

I guess I dont get why writing down he will be able to dress himself on a piece of paper is going to help him dress himself.

He does eat with a fork and spoon but only one item each he only eats about 10 foods anyway.

My next real goal and only one I have right now is potty training. I hope that goes well.

If you write that down as a goal then they will work on it with him as well as giving you strategies and things to work on with him in order to reach that goal.

Not to discourage you because every kid is different but Lucas had huge issues potty training and the schools reccomendation was to let it go and not force cuz it would make it much much worse.

He was pee trained at 4 right before school started last september and as of a month ago we are completely diaper free. So it did happen but you have to have a LOT of patience for a concept that he may just refuse to allow into his world.

i hear a lot about the hardness to potty train. I know he can hold it because if I make him sit on the potty he refuses to go until i put a diaper back on.

Im hoping I can work on it while K is at my moms for a week this summer.

I wont be mad or upset if he doesnt but three in diapers is not my idea of fun.

thanks for all the support. I need to go get ready for the meeting though theyll be here soon.

You're gone but part of potty training that was an issue for us was all sensory related. between not liking the way the seat felt on his skin to not being able to feel comfortable or secure. NIGHTMARE Definitely talk to your therapists about how to win the sensory part of the battle. I was ready to make a cloth cover and get a padded seat. (oh and he hated the little potty possibly more then the big one LOL)

Joe's brother will be here in approximately 6 hours. In that time I have to go to the store, get dinner, put clothes away, load the dishwasher, shower and shave, pluck my eyebrows and finish packing.

At least the time should go by really fast.
