for those of you who hate the mess of moonsand, what i have done that works well is clean out the water table and fill that with moonsand. atleast that is what we do in the winter...we rotate between moon sand and insta snow during the winter (inside) and then bring it outside and fill it with water in the summer.
What is insta snow?
only the funnest stuff ever! ;)
it is a powder you can usually buy at educational toy stores. you add water to it and it makes snow. it looks like a tiny packet when you open the box, but you add a few gallons of water and you have a huge amount--enough to fill a medium sized water table. it doesn't melt and when the water dissolves out, the powder is left behind...so you can either add more water and reuse or just vacuum or sweep it up.

My friend Vicki (one of my pool-friends) was next door earlier today. Her mom used to live in the house next door, and after she died, Vicki started renting it to my hairdresser and his bf.
I went outside to say hi, and she told me that she had retired from teaching kindergarten in the city schools but was now working at a place called New Hope Christian Academy. It's a private school for underprivileged children that goes through 5th grade, then gives scholarships for private school the rest of the way through 12th grade.
That sounds so interesting to me. I may ask her if I can come read to her students and/or substitute there. If there was any elementary teaching situation that might lull me into full-time, it would be something like that.
Shhh. Don't tell Glen. He'll start typing up my resume.
