Tell me your favorite classic books

So the thread about reading chapter books with your kids has inspired me to read a couple of books with my boys this summer.

I haven't read to them in years because they just read their own stuff now.

I thought it would be fun if we could take turns reading a chapter a night of some classics that I've never read and some classics that they would never pick up on thier own because the titles don't have the words nerd or whimpy or booger in them.

We're going to start with treasure island and then maybe tom sawyer.

Any other suggestions are very welcome. They're 8 and 10.

I am not sure what your boys are into or how well they read but here are a few:

Where the Red Fern Grows (warning you might cry)
Sounder
Rascal

Brian Paulsen has written several books in a series which I think starts with Hatchet.

How To Eat Fried Worms

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

The Sign Of The Beaver

The Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe (Narnia Chronicals series)

The Box Car Children

I will try to see if I can go look through some of my books and ask my ds what books he liked too.  I have found it a bit harder to find books that interest boys, but there are some good ones out there.
