Well, we didn't hear which we are pretty certain means he was not their top choice.  Boo.  We share the same boss, so Travis is going to talk with her on Monday to see a bottom line date for signing our contracts for next year (um, like two weeks ago, but whatev).  There is still a chance because the live-on feature is really unappealing (usually) to professionals that have been in the field a while and likely already have their own home, so he still may end up with an offer if the top person declines. Which would leave 12-13 days to pack up and move.

I'm super disappointed for him, but not showing it of course :)  We still have jobs, it is all still good, and there is always a tiny chance until you get that final rejection letter.

So this weekend I am going to do some massive spring cleaning/decluttering.  If we get the job miraculously, less to do later.  If we don't, at least our current apartment will be clean :)

This stinks, Jenn!

It must be so hard not knowing. I agree that you can't count it as a no until you hear. They could just be slacking.

I hope your boss is understanding. Would you stay on campus if you stay in this job?

Yeah, literally nothing at all would change.  I'd still be Asst. Director in my department, and due to my position, I would be one of the only staff members that doesn't have to move this summer (our boss is shuffling everyone else around).  Travis would continue in his praduate position, and still teach on the side at another univeristy and 2 adult ed programs.  So truly, we are not out anything, which is wonderful.  The one very big perk in staying is Travis should be able to work on his dissertaion full time and be able to defend in the spring.  If he got this position, it would slow him down a bit.

Well, as someone who watched someone try to write a thesis and work full time, that might not be a bad thing. It was brutal and Mike's job was tied to his defending by the end of the school year (July). It really only gave him the month of June to write and defend. It was STRESSFUL.
