Good morning everyone!!  It is hump day!!!

Today's question (since tomorrow is tax day) is: Are your taxes done?  If yes, how long have you had them done?  If no, will they be?

Taxes done!  We've already received our federal return.  I owe the state, so will be printing the form today and putting it in the mailbox.  I always seem to owe the state.

GM by the way!

To answer my own question, we have our extension filed! We don't have to file on in MD if we are expecting a refund-I don't know that we will get one, but we are close enough that I didn't file.

We never have our taxes actually done on time. I can't remember the last time we didn't have to file an extension. It is because the business taxes (from the business that Bill and his dad own-they aren't doing anything with it these days, but there was a bit of activity last year) are never back from the accountant on time-which is because we always forget to get him the books until April and I guess he figures if we are late, he will be too.

Hi Jenn!!!

How are you today?

I am waiting for my breakfast to heat up and the girls are eating. I am having a piece of goat cheese and onion quiche. YUM (I had better enjoy it now-it will NOT be part of my MSBL diet when I come back!!!)

My dad bought us strawberries from Sam's club-which was very nice. But I had just bought some. So I am going to make a strawberry pie today.

Again, not going to be on the diet-but for now, I am making one. Yummy!!!

I have to interview someone I supervised 5 years ago today.

I hope he has changed a lot in 5 years or it is going to be really hard to be impartial.

I also can't wait to read his resume and see all the stuff he claims to have done at the school  supervised him at.

He'd be a near peer.  Ugh.  I need Travis to get his job.

We did our taxes in March and got our (GIANT) refund already.

Thank goodness for daycare credit and home improvement credit - we got 8K back! Awesome!

It's all gone to debt but it saved our butts - our flooring was just about due and it would have been a real hardship to pay it.

Our taxes have been done since February. We got a large return from the feds, which we used to make repairs on our cars, pay extra on our mortgage, buy dh's plane ticket so he could go to his sister's wedding, and a few other things, plus saving some. We owed the state a little.

I'm excited that I don't have much on my list today. I've been busy all day for much longer than I'd like so the break will be nice. Assuming my kids keep up their strategy of getting along.

Holy crap!!  And I thought my refund was nice (over 6K)!

Our daycare rebate is awesome - we paid $14K and the big portion of our refund is based on that.

They did a 1 yr home improvement credit where you could get up to 1600 back (stimulate the economy). Our $25K septic redo counted so we got the maximum back for that.

So really, we'd have been better off not paying the $25 K but since we had to, the big refund was nice.

I am lol that we are such slackers in the taxes department and everyone else has had theirs done for months!!

We don't usually get a ton back. We owe for the family business, but get enough back to offset that, so we should pretty much break even this year, we might get like $500. I am happy with that-as long as we don't owe!! A bigger refund would have been nice with the hospital bills to pay for, but we'll manage and I am just happy not to owe more-we had forgotten about the profit from the business. But we haven't gotten the K-1 back from the accountant yet, so maybe he was able to reduce that profit some too and we won't owe as much-we'll see.

Sonya, with all of your expenses, that is awesome you got so much back!!! We have never gotten refunds that big-and I doubt we ever will!! (we try to keep things so that we don't owe more, but don't get much back-it doesn't always pan out)

GM Ladies.

We had our taxes done in Feb. And recieved our refund right before going to Disney world which was sooo nice. We ended up getting back 8K and it all went to CC and paying for our vacation.

What was really nice was getting the 8K stimulus for buying a house in 2009. We didn't expect this until May-June but it came last week. Kinda sucks since DH was at work and I needed his signature to deposit the check. Nothing like have a check that big and not be able to do anything with it.

We're going to use the stimulus money to get our car really close to being paid off.

Anna and Kate are playing upstairs in Anna's room because she got a new rug. I got her an area rug at Target. All she had were these 2 little flower rugs, which were worthless and slid all over the place.

So there was a 25% Target coupon for area rugs over $50 that I had printed out. The rug was $79.99, so I used that and that took off $20, then I had $20 in GC from my razor purchases, so I ended up getting the rug for $40.

She is THRILLED. It is so funny how kids get excited over little things like that!

Melissa-wow!! That is great!! I have to admit, as much as I like that we try to break even, there are times when I think it would be nice to get a big fat check come this time of year.

Or...well...the fall for us, since we never get our taxes done on time, lol.

The bad thing is I feel on my A$$ on the way in to work from the car. That is the LAST thing I need right now. Now my neck and whole lower back right leg hurt now.

we did our taxes the first day allowed. We always look forward to our refund. I think this year dh is changing his withholdings though so we can invest it from the beginning of the year. Im not sure though.
