infant carseats - keyfit vs snugride?

I'm curious to know if anyone here has had any experience with the Chicco KeyFit infant car seat, or know anyone who has?  I'm looking at that one and the Graco SnugRide.

Any input would be appreciated!  Thanks.

Oh, and also...do you remember about how long you used the infant seat before switching to a convertible?  I can't even remember what we did with the boys.

I've only used the Graco, but my friend had the Chicco and I loved it! Maybe it was because it matched my stroller, but....

I think you're good with either.

I think the switch depends on the kiddo. Some of the infant seats even go to 30 pounds now, but who would want to be lugging that around with a baby over 20 pounds? I think Carter and Kaylin switched around 9 months, while Braydon outgrew his around 4 months. I find that when they can sit on their own, then it's easiest.

Both are great seats!

I got the Graco Safeseat with Keegan they already ridded of that name and are back to Graco Snugride.

I will be using it with this baby. It goes to 30 lbs. Keegan was still sitting in it at times at like 15 months. I stopped using it in the van full time when he was about 13 months. He would still fit weight wise but he is a tall boy so we switched.

I had just the regular Graco Snugrides that only went to 20 lbs with the older boys. Bryce was out of it by 5-6 months and Owen was about 7 months.

I loved having it go to 30 lbs. But I got to the point where I wasn't lugging it around anymore I just left it in the van.  That and we had a snap and go.

Thanks for the feedback. I need to go look at the strollers, too. The Graco travel systems seem to be a bit bulky compared to the Chicco ones.

We got rid of everything, so we're basically starting from scratch.

Sara (or anyone else) - do you know of some good sites to keep an eye on for sales/deals?

For strollers, I'd get a snap and go for when you use the infant seat.  Then I'd get a nice umbrella stroller, like a Maclaren.  I have the Volo and I love it.  It doesn't recline, but the next one up does.  I really have very little use for my full size stroller.

ditto this, do not get a big travel system stroller. Get a snap and go for now then find a nice single stroller you like and get that.

As far as deals I will keep an eye out and message you any I find on fb.  Babies R Us has 20% off coupons sometimes and you might check some online baby websites or Amazon.

Thanks, Stacey!  This is what I was thinking, but I need to take a look at prices.  Wondering if it would be cheaper to get a stroller that I can use with the carseat and also still use later that's lightweight, or if it would be cheaper to get the snap and go for now and then an umbrella stroller for later.

These don't seem to be too bulky and can handle the infant seats:
http://www.chiccousa.com/gear/strollers/cortina/cortina-romantic.aspx
http://www.gracobaby.com/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=1762776

I forgot how tough it was to decide on baby products, there are so many to choose from!
