The toilet in the kids' bathroom needs serious help.

First, it stops up all the time (mostly because Henry only poops about once a week).

Second (and we have this problem with both toilets), when we flush, all of the water doesn't go out of the bowl. I've been having a heck of a time even cleaning the bowl because I can't get all the water out to clean it well down at the drain part. And none of my boys ever flush. :eyeroll:

Third, dh rigged up the inside of the toilet tank (which is NASTY) with empty soda bottles instead of actually fixing it.

I need Toilet Help 101.

Thanks.

Hmmm. I'm not a plumber but can you put bleach in the back of the tank, let it sit for a short bit, and then flush it? that may clean the tank out a bit.

Can you turn the water off to the toilet, flush it twice (empty the tank and empty the bowl) and then clean it?

How do you turn the water off to the toilet?

To turn the water off at a toilet, you can generally find a little round handle to turn like you do an outside faucet.

You can also manually flush a toilet by getting a bucket of water and pouring it quickly down the toilet.  The higher up you hold it, the more force it will have (and splash).

I also think the soda bottles in back could be part of your problem.  There might not be enough water going into the toilet to actually flush the waste down.

I am not sure what is wrong with the "guts" inside your toilet, but you can buy a kit to replace it and it's not really hard to do.  I have done it.

I am guessing you need to be careful of anything you put in your water because of your dog.  I THINK, you can get some sort of bleach tabs that are suppose to be pet safe if you want to do that.

First, I think you should give Glen a swirly!

Second, you need to slip some Miralax in Henry's juice!

I know my husband replaced something on our main toilet that makes it flush and fill faster (unfortunately I only half listen when he talks about this type of stuff so I don't know what it was called).  Maybe if you changed this part on both toilets the intensity with which it now flushes would sweep Henry's days old poo easier and clear all the water from the bowl.

What was the purpose of the bottles glen put in there?

I second the replacing the guts of your toilet. If the bottle Glen used to "fix" the floater in the tank isn't allowing enough water to fill the tank, it will prevent the toilet from flushing entirely. It is easy to do yourself (replacing the guts of your tank.) If my mom can do it, you can do it. : )

(How in the world does Henry only poop once a week?!?! Thats crazy! Can't be comfortable...or good for him. LOL)
