I need some ideas.

Charlie does want to invite his class and so does josie. Their birthdays are a day apart so we'll be doing it together.

the problem is Charlie's class has 27 kids and Josie's 17.

No problem, right?

lol.

It will be in the middle of summer so not everyone will come but I need a plan that would work for a lot of kids.

Any ideas? I'm thinking something like a bbq at a park or something like that.

I think a bbq at a park is a perfect idea!!  Some place everyone can gather outside and the kids can play would be great.  Anna has gone to a couple of parties at a local park here-the kids have had a great time on the playground and they had tables and such set up in the clearing area.  We have another local park that has tables and grills under gazebos that you can sign up for-they are free, but you have to reserve them-that would be perfect!

I am not sure she will stick to it, but at the moment Elizabeth is obsessed with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  So a Snow White party is the current thought.  There is a park here with a lake house which is not too fancy but we can rent the room and the balcony patio cheaply and a paddle boat or two.  It's also in a woods, which is kind of snow white like.

You could do a Robin Hood party and tweak it to that.  What's he into these days?

Your party plans sound wonderful.

Peter Pan and Thomas the Train are his two "things" at the moment. I wish we could do something outside just at a park or something but it is always SO HOT here in July. Every year we've gone to my parents house because they have a pool. Everyone seems to enjoy it but I want to do something different.

We're doing Super Heroes.

It started out as Super Hero Squad stuff (she's obsessed) which has morphed into Powerpuff Girls, which if you don't know, stopped selling stuff about a decade ago, so yeah.

Right now the plan is to rent a bus that has a bouncy gym inside (like this, although it isn't the same company, but you get the idea), and my gf is starting her own business (soft serve ice cream) so she's bringing the ice cream truck and serving a special flavor just for Hannah's birthday (Hannah will design it a few weeks before).

I'd like to make capes, but I have a ton to make, and now I am hosting a bridal shower, a baby shower, and having to put a ton of money into my niece's wedding, so that may be a lost cause at this point. We'll see.

Shut up. Her own ice cream flavor. LOVE IT!

Leah, I don't know how you do it all... SUPER MOM!

we are doing a 'phineas & ferb backyard beach' party for cole

it's actually just a beach themed party b/c there really isn't much out there for p&f

we do cole's parties in May because otherwise his school friends don't show up (b/c they all have summer homes and shit...lmao)

we were going to have his party at a local fish store that has a HUGE showroom but they're moving locations in may, so we're back at our normal place and will swim and all that

jack is having an ice cream party in july...he has no school friends so that will likely just be family

I remember seeing this on FB... I love the P&F backyard beach idea... and now the song is stuck in my head.

I love the idea of the ice cream party too... sounds fun and simple

Mason keeps saying he wants his party at Chuck E. Cheese's again.  It was super easy last year, but I was hoping for something a little more fun for me to plan this year, LOL.

And I haven't even thought of a guest list, since he'll want some kids from his class, but I don't know how all that works with his school, and I'm sure as hell not inviting all 12 kids from his class.

There are 20 (counting Luc) in his class... all the other parents have sent home invites to the whole class. I've never been more thrilled that Lucas' has a summer birthday than I am this year.... since school ends in June.

We still do family parties. So far Anna hasn't asked for a friend party, and so I am not bringing it up-I imagine this will be the last year I have to not have to deal with either having 2 parties or inviting friends to the family party. I am not looking forward to figuring out the details of all that!

Anyway, Anna right now wants Ariel. Which basically means she wants me to make an Ariel cake-I don't think the decorations or any of the other stuff matters too much to her-as long as she gets the Ariel cake! She may change her mind between now and then, but right now, we are sticking with Ariel.

She also has requested to have it over at the farm again. Bill isn't happy about that-he thinks it is more work having it elsewhere, but they have a pool and it is in June, so it really is perfect, and I think if she wants it over there, she should be able to have it there! So we will likely do that. Everyone likes being able to go swimming, and our friends' kids and my brother's kids like coming to the farm and seeing the animals and such.

I need to figure out the cake though. Last year I tried to take the easy way out and buy the cake, but it ended up the that I had to decorate it myself at the last minute anyway, so this year I am going back to homemade.

I have been thinking about the cake, only a Snow White version.  At Walmart they have some disney barbie sized dolls made for water play.  Snow White and Ariel are both available for just under six bucks each.  I think I am going to back a cake in a deep bowl and then cut the hole in the center and stick Snow White in there and frost accordingly.  I was not so hot on the idea, but some others have told me they loved having a cake like that.  The good thing about the doll is that she is very washable and can be used after the cake is cut.  I don't know if that helps you any.  Here's a link of something like what I mean:

we're gone to a lot of parties for girls that had cakes like that... so cute. I always wanted one when I was a girl

What is the latest you guys would consider going to a party? Last year I kind of wanted to do a camping themed party. (not have the kids spend the night just have it as the theme) I just think it would be more fun if it was at least a little dark so they could make smores (but then a bunch of 5 year olds with flaming marshmallows could be a bad thing.....)

Hmmm...just kids kind of thing?  IDK.  We have later parties (we usually start at 4:30ish) and have dinner, but they are family things.  With just kids, I am not sure I would want something quite that late.  BUT that would be really fun!!!  IDK-I think this might be a little young for a later party like that.  I love the idea though.  So fun!!!

You could do a ton with Peter Pan!

You could have a cake shaped like a pirate ship, Peter's hat, a treasure chest, use figurines on top of the cake, and I am sure there are more.

You could have a treasure hunt

pin the mustache on the pirate

play hide and go seek

make peter pan hats and pirate eye patches

put a bunch of little objects like fake gold coins, marbles, and what not in a big bowl of rice.  Blind fold the kid and set the timer.  Let him dig for treasure and keep what he finds.

Hang stars up

Use big boxes to make the lost boys hide out or a cave by hanging black streamers over the front.  Better yet, let them decorate the hide out.

Have kids come dressed as one of the characters or any pirate or fairy or wearing pajamas

Here's some more good ideas

I don't know what the theme will be yet, but Andrew wants to have his party at Pump It Up. It's a bounce house play room. We'll have the party the weekend before his birthday, the end of June. With a July 1st B'Day, the weekend after is 4th of July... Since I'll be about ready to pop, no bouncing for me. wink.gif

There is no way I'm inviting all the kids in his class. There are 21 kids and some major brats! LOL Fortunately, school ends the end of May. Last year there were just 8 or 9 kids in summer school, so I invited them all to his Tumble America party. There is a limit of 25 kids for the party, and I want his cousins and other friends to be able to go the party, so I don't want it full from kids from school. Does that sound as bad as I thnk it does??? Oh well...

I think the cake will be from Sam's, they are always so super moist. They used to have raspberry filling, but don't carry it anymore. cry.gif

They closed the Pump It Up here, but I just wanted to say that we had Hannah's 3 year old party there and it was - by far - the BEST party we've thrown. They were so helpful and did all the work, and we all (parents included) had a crazy fun blast. I would have done it there every year if I could have.

I am really excited. We are totally copying D and Cole and doing a Phineas and Ferb party. My parents backyard and in-ground pool are perfect for a backyard beach party. Luc is a HUGE P&F fan. The two of us watch it together every night snuggled up together before he takes his bath and gets ready for bed.

Originally every other day he was changing what kind of party he wanted until I suggested P&F and he literally started jumping up and down with excitement.

I am so stoked to find P&F swim trunks at walmart and PJs too (I always give him new PJs for his birthday as one of his gifts)
