Birthday party with a "bouncing" theme--
Permalink

Henry's birthday party is this coming Saturday. [All prayers for NO RAIN would be greatly appreciated.]

It has a bouncing theme since he got a giant new trampoline for his birthday. And I'm renting a moonbounce. I thought I'd buy some different bouncy balls to give as treat-bag things. (Do 10-year-olds typically still do treat bags?) I was going to go a little crazy with balloons. [I super-love balloons.] Also, we have one of those hippity-hop things, and I think they're cheap enough that I could buy a couple more.

He's only inviting the boys in his class, one other neighbor boy, his cousin John, and Mark. If EVERYONE comes, that will be 13 boys. Yikes.

I'll be making the cake, and I'm still trying to come up with ideas for that; maybe I'll just decorate it with bouncy balls.

Also, if it rains, I need a rain-plan. We have a Wii so we'll use that but with 13 boys, taking turns will be an issue.

Any other ideas? Most of the boys are 4th graders.

I have NO ideas. Having girls, and girls who are younger, I am just not sure what kind of things 10 year old boys would be into!!

My SIL stopped doing treat bags around that age, I think. But I think you still *could* if you wanted.

I wish I had more ideas for you!! You need Kristi to jump in here...

I remember we didn't do treat bags, but we did do prizes for little competitions at birthday parties around that age.

As for rain plans, I'm drawing a blank other than big big hopes that you have nothing but sun :)

i stopped doing treat bags around then but did a craft or baked something and brought it home. perhaps you could just back cupcakes and then have different colored icings sprinkles etc, gummy worms that the boys could decorate there own so that it takes up time and you dont have to come up with a theme.

i'd probably still do goody bags because i think that is the best part. also the ocd-themed party planner in me would require that they were totally ball themed: i'm thinking paddle balls, bouncy balls, blow up beach balls?? all relatively cheap.

food?? meatballs, cheese balls, popcorn balls, melon balls and cantaloupe balls on a stick?

not sure how hard this would be:

sounds like fun! take lots of pictures!!

Treat bags are fun, so if you want to do it, do it.

Game/activities

A relay race with lots of bouncing involved - bounce on the hippity hop thing and back

I saw this on tv- take some of the foam insulation for pipes that has a hole in the middle and cut it in half.  Then they can construct track for the balls to roll down and bounce out of it

Set up a cup, bucket, and some other container and have them try to bounce a ball a specific number of times into the container without knocking the container over

Do you own a parachute?  That is good for all sorts of bouncing activities

Scavenger hunt where they have to find various objects of the bouncing variety around your house.  You could give clues that would lead to things like Bounce dryer sheets, a rubber band, a spring, etc.

My nephew will be 10 in May and my sister still does treat bags for class parties so I'm sure they would like it for bday also.
