I'm wondering if any of you have used the Paraguard IUD.
I know we have some Mirena Mamas on here, but I can't use the Mirena b/c of my clotting factor issues. I'm having it placed sometime next week I think, and I'm wondering what to expect!
I got the paragard in November. So far it's great. It was pretty painful after it was inserted for about 2 weeks, after that I was fine. I thought I was going to be miserable again when I got my first period, since the side effects are longer, heavier, more painful periods. I do have a different kind of pain the day before I start my period now, but it's not that bad. Also, I used to spot for 5 days before I would get my period, but since getting the IUD it's now 3 days of spotting. And my period is not heavier than before the IUD, I'd say it's about the same.
I would recommed the Paragard. I was kind of scared to get it because I had read a lot of bad reviews, but so far it's been fine for me!
I know everything I read said how painful and how much longer they were. It made me nervous, but I also didn't want the hormones from the mirena. I really haven't had a bad experience at all. I hope your experience is good too!
