Very! The swimsuit and cowboy boots just aren't appropriate!

Somewhat. Polka dots and stripes just don't go.

Not really. As long as it doesn't have jelly stains on it.

Not at all. I'm happy if we even make it to school on time.

This weekend I'm gearing up to announce my new book, A Smart Girl's Guide to Style: how to have fun with fashion, shop smart and let your personal style shine through.

It's got GREAT illustrations and was published by award-winning American Girl Publishing - the publisher I found as the go-to source when tackling the tough issues my daughter was facing as a young girl and tween. She's a teenager now - and quite the fashionista - so she helped me out with the book, too.

The book is not just about fashion - it actually concentrates more on helping girls develop self-esteem, confidence and explore their creative side.
There's some great advice on how to handle things when kids and parents clash on clothing choices. And honestly, there are lots of lessons for moms in it too - reminders to find looks that make you comfortable, ideas on organizing and inspiration on taking time to let your own creative flair shine through.

It was fun to write and I think it's a fun read - something you can finish in about 30 minutes.

Anyway, if you're a mom with a girl age 8-13 or know someone who is, check it out on Amazon.com or the American Girl Website. And if you like it, give it a review! : )
