Question for those with cat(s) & dog(s)

how do you feed the cat(s) without the dog(s) eating all their food?

I seriously feed these cats all.day.long because as soon as I feed them, the dog is there eating all the food (and he has food in his own bowl...he just prefers cat food) we have even tried feeding him cat food in his dish, but he wants the cat's food out of their dish...so strange.

why don't you put the cat food up high?  someplace where the cat can climb up, but the dog can't reach.

my cat's food is on my dryer. he jumps up and eats it and then my dog can't get to it. i have a feeding mat up there to protect the dryer.

Remy won't go in the basement, so that's where we put the cat's food. We put it in the laundry room down there, like April said.

i agree. put it up high somewhere the dog can't reach. that's exactly what we do.

p.s. cat food is really bad for dogs

We keep their food either up higher, but lately our a-hole cat has been tipping the feeder off the ledge, so I transferred it to the laundry room in the basement.

Whenever our dog sneaks food, he gets the worst gas and runs ever. Uck.

Thanks guys...you are all geniuses ;) I had it on the counter, but hate to teach the cats to jump up on stuff when I am always trying to get them not to. but I will do the dryer...that is a great idea!

We have a portable dishwasher and that is where we keep the food, our dog would eat every bite of it if we left it down, I don't know what it is with dogs and cat food!
