I'm an avid soda drinker. I found a drink called Cascade Ice. It's flavored sparkling water. The sparkly part makes me think of soda. They are 4 calories, yummy flavors and so far only the cherry has sugar that i've noticed, the rest do not.
havent heard of seitan. plan to read that link later, as soon as i have a second. i'm buying this vegetarian cookbook: http://www.amazon.com/Year-Vegetarian-Kitchen-Seasonal-Friends/dp/0618239979/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265752612&sr=8-1 which my friend said is simple and good weeknight style stuff.
i'm also making an effort to eat more grains. i plan to cut out red meat entirely by the spring (for me at least. i havent decided about the kids - but they will not get more than one very small portion of steak per week).
i had barley and steamed broccoli with soysauce, and some strawberries for lunch yesterday and today.
:)
i'm also doing the bread machine thing. excited for that. i'm not committing to making all of the family bread, but i'd like to move into baking my own more and more.
my next area is going to be dental care - i always used tom's for years, but stopped - now i'm back on it (though it still has SLS ... but whatever) - and i'm moving to tom's mouthwash over listerine due to the alcohol in there (not great).
speaking of toothpaste, one to avoid = orajel kids'. has two parabens. colgate seems to be ok (from my preliminary reading) and i got the kids' tom's today.
(I just finished Food Inc tonight. I'm a little more on board than my hesitant husband, lol)
Just read that article as well! I think it's great. I am going to watch Food Inc. this week since it's on Netflix - hoping to get Doug to watch it with me as well.
