Anybody who knows about sewing machines
Permalink

I am trying to hem some pants and they are stretchy material and everytime I start to sew them it does it for a little bit and then the bobbin thread jams and tangles and the machine stops, it looks fine on the top but the bottom is all tangled. I am thinking it is something with the fabric but it doesn't say anywhere in my manual what to do. Any ideas?

Make sure you have your machine threaded correctly, that can really make for a messy stitch. Also you can try making the stitch length longer. But be sure you are keeping the fabric taught/tight when you are sewing it....don't let it gather at all. The stretchy fabrics are so difficult to sew anyway, but a longer stitch length should help. : )

You might also want to look at the thread tension if the other things don't help.
