today I will switch my family to organic milk.

I bought the almond milk last week and it was good.  Not sure it will fly with everyone in this house.

We usually drink 3 gallons of milk per week.   That could get costly to buy 3 organic gallons.  so, we're going to cut down on milk and up the water.

Water is good for little people who have poo poo problems so it's a win win here!

and the bread maker thread is so timely.

I told DH 2 weeks ago I was considering making our bread.

We recently made the switch to organic milk. I'm not nearly as health conscience as I could/should be, but that's one place where I really didn't mind the cost. (And I'm a freaking cheapskate.) Hannah is obsessed with Horizon's chocolate milk, which although it isn't the healthiest alternative in the world, I don't mind on occasion.

And Mindy got me hooked on almond milk a couple of weeks ago (the same week we made the milk switch since I was in that aisle, lol). Sadly, this has increased my grocery bill by $15 just in milk, lol. But, it is so yummy!

I am not sure if this will help any, but Meijer's milk does not have the growth hormones in it.  Unfortunately it is in a plastic container.

But all along we've loved the Saints and have been so happy over their success this season . . . the win was awesome for the team and the city.

The onside kick just after halftime = brilliant!

Morning (for another 30 minutes anyway)!

No, I did not watch the Super Bowl.

I went to dinner at Red Lobster with Kimberly, thinking no one would be there. WRONG--it was packed.

Then we went to see the movie "When in Rome", and there was NOBODY at the theater. Much better.

April - Sorry you're sick.

Jennifer - Sorry SG is sick.

Hope everyone feels better soon!

Also, there's a breakmaker machine thread? I'll have to check it out.

jake is home with "a migraine" again.

this is the 9th time this school year he has come home from school with a migraine. the last 2 times he didn't seem like he had a migraine at all.

this time as soon as he saw i wasn't acting like i was "mad" at him - he started acting totally normally.

i firmly believe he uses migraines as an excellent way to get out of school. so .... i think i'm going to tell him that he needs to establish a sleeping routine - therefore he has to stop spending the night at his friends' houses (which they do every weekend) and he has to keep getting up at the same time every day (even on weekends) to see if it helps his "migraines".

not sure what else to do.

tell him you're taking him in for a brain probe b/c you are very concerned about his "migraines."

tell him it will involve several very long needles.

I rock this Mom gig, don't I?

furious

lol

here's the shitty part - he really does get migraines and when they happen they're awful. he can't see for a while, he throws up, he has a headache for hours....

that's how i know he's faking it. but i HATE the idea of calling him out -  kwim?

i took him to 2 different doctors to talk about preventative medication. here's the thing - they prescribed him a low dose antidepressant as a preventative thing (off label). against my better judgement i filled the prescription. he never remembered to take it. you can't just start and stop antidepressants. especially as a teenager.

i guess if his migraines were than bad he would remember to take it, right?

blah....

actually, my teenage niece (16) is having migraines too.

She is on a daily med for her migraines as well.

My SIL took her for an MRI last weekend.  They will find out results tomorrow.

She came to my house yesterday while my SIL went to a SB party and my SIL gave me her medicine.  I just casually asked what it was called and she told me the name and it immediately struck me that it was an antidepressant.   I thought that was strange.

A lot of preventive migraine medications are usually either antidepressants or anticonvulsant medications. I take Topamax which is an anticonvulsant. It works better than taking an antidepressant did for my migraines.

We're waiting. Today is pay day! Plus our taxes are done. We go at 5 to sign the papers, etc for our taxes. Trying not to be too excited.

Had my LAST appt for fillings. OUCH! I was good and numbed so I didn't feel a thing but now that the lidocaine has worn off I am in so much pain and I have this awful rash on my face and neck. WTF? This has never happened. Then Friday is my oral surgery. DH said that for V-Day he'll just get me a Stage 3 jar of baby food when we go out to dinner so that I can eat too. Har har.

He's getting me a DS to start until I get my driver's license changed over and a purchase permit! Those are my other gifts. And all the range time I want all by myself. I think I'll just a pair of the range ear muffs to wear at home all the time too.

biggrin

Its supposed to snow tomorrow. Nothing major. No more snow. So done with this mess. "But according to the Farmer's Almanac we're in for a blizzard." If I hear that one more time I swear I'm going to scream!

I can't wait for Friday! My "preferred mom" aka stepmom is coming out to take me to my surgery (its at a hospital an hour away) and ah the quiet for that short time. Yippee!!!

and sara, about the migraines that is tough since you know he does suffer from them. maybe some how to bring it up and say i know you get migraines but lets just make sure we are not starting to use them as excuses to get out of things. migraines are serious and i am going to have to take you for some extra testing if they keep up at this rate you are saying you are having them.

i am afraid owen is going to suffer from them. he since this fall has complained of headaches. it is usually at times when the weather is about to change and i know it is just related to his allergies and sinus's.

does jake have any allergy sinus issues? i know you are expecting the snow like we are so maybe that could be his issue? maybe on days you know when the weather is going to change you can give him a sinus medicine which will help the headache. if that is a possible cause.
